BBQ TEA?

by GreenTeaTV » Oct 21st, '09, 08:11

Yes that's right!, I have made a signature blend for anyone who loves to BBQ or smoke a good cigar once in a while.
50% Gunpowder, 20% Lapsang Souchong, 30% Irish Breakfast
Enjoy! :D

This tea sounds sooooo wrong.

Take a cue from Russian Caravan, a classic smokey Camellia senesis tea blend: Oolong , Keemun and Lapsang Souchong.

There are smoked or reasonably abundant, medium-to high oxidized, lower elevation oolongs to be had for blending. They will taste better if you try roasting them a bit before blending. Nearly all of the blender keemuns have a classic smokey/astringent bite that will stand up to mixing with an oolong and LS. Lapsang should be used LIGHTLY (not more than 10%). Not only is it expensive, but there is no need to bludgeon one's tastebuds with pinepitch PAHs.

An alternative to the C. sinesis route, if you really wanted a robust C. assamica blended tea with a smoke tang, would be a classic Yunnan Black with golden tips blended with one of the earthy loose-leaf puerhs sold here; both are purported smokey.

Adagio might get more sales out of a smokey/earthy puerh blend than to sell these not so great quality pus by themselves.

I know the lapsang souchong sounds like a lot, but my goal was to have a tea that was not all about the lapsang, but instead to have the other teas overpower the lapsang so it wouldn't be so strong.
