White Ayurvedic Chai and Samurai Chai Mate mix

by gsep » Nov 3rd, '09, 17:31

I just bought this mix and it's hard to judge how to exactly to make it. It says on the tin to steep for 4-5 minutes at 175 min. What about the steeps after that? The Samurai Chai Mate contains Green Mate, Red Rooibos, cinnamon, candied pineapple bits, orange peel, lemongrass, aniseed, coriander, cardamom, almonds, and cornflower blossoms. The White Ayurvedic Chai contains White tea, green tea, cinnamon, lemongrass, red pepper, bruised black pepper, coconut chips, cardamom and cloves. I hope this information is useful. I'm new to tea and teachat so any advice would be most appreciated.

I think most flavored teas are not supposed to be re-steeped with the exception of pure jasmine flavored teas.
Try to brew yours according to the directions on the tin first and then adjust the parameters to your liking. 3 mins at 175F for a white tea sounds reasonable to me, I'm not sure about mate though, haven't tried it yet.
