A Cautionary Tale to All Who Post Reviews on TeaMap
To all fellow tea-lovers,
I am writing out of concern due to the events which transpired today, and resulted in rather disturbing circumstances.
Today, I was part of a bridal party which had a reservation at noon at a highly ranked tea cottage in Southern California. Reservations had been made months in advance for a bachelorette party.
The bridal party and I drove over an hour to the tea room today, only to find our reservation disregarded, and the tea cottage closed. This had obviously been planned for quite a while, for the note in the window said "Holiday Hours: Closed Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Years Eve, New Years Day."
Subsquently, the mother of the bride and I posted the events which transpired earlier this evening. At around 9 this evening, the bridesmaid who made the reservation got a phone call, not in regards to the concerned and confused message that was left on the tea cottage's answering machine while we were there, but to theaten a lawsuit due to the deservedly negative reviews which expressed independent opionion of true events.
This is unacceptable. I am left questioning the veracity of reviews and ranking on this website if the shop owners can call and threaten people due to the opinions posted on an online public forum.
I ask for help from the moderators and admistrators of this website in helping to make the tea loving public aware of the fact that this has occured.
I also warn fellow tea lovers that though they think that they are helping others know about their own experiences, that they might have a similar situation happen with them.
Sincerely,
A frustrated tea-lover

I'd recommend that you do a follow-up review outlining this behavior. Reviews are protected speech as long as the review is done honestly and in good faith.

Found the review. It wasn't hard. Seems to me there is a LOT you are not telling, and a quick glance through both the reviews and the teahouse owner's response leaves me questioning the veracity of your claims.
I'm guessing this post here on TeaChat is sour grapes. Amusing that you've got all this time on your hands to run around doing reviews and such when you are in the middle of a New Year's Eve wedding.
Things that make you go hmmmm...

Sorry to hear about the sequence of events.
I am a bit confused though, your post mentions threats concerning a post, was this a post on this forum? I cannot find it if it was.
Or did you go in to the Adagio site's TeaMap http://www.teamap.com/ which is not part of this forum even though both TeaMap and TeaChat are owned by Adagio?
To confuse it a bit more, this SubForum is called TeaMap, but it is not the TeaMap http://www.teamap.com/
Where did you post the review that drew the threat?
EDIT: seems Geek located it ... must be in the actual TeaMap.
Thanks,
Chip

The review in question was on TeaMap. http://www.teamap.com/ which is under the supervision of Adagio, having nothing to do with this forum.
Therefore, I am off the hook ...

Thanks for the link. I was intrigued by the drama, but far too lazy to find it myself. I volunteer to be one of the background extras on the case. I'll even punch a bailiff if it'll add to our ratings.
