Juicing tea leaves

by chefmike » Jan 2nd, '10, 11:39

After making my juice this morning, I ran my spent green tea leaves through my juicer. Does anyone know if there is any benefit to this. Every morning they just go down the disposal. Curious to hear any opinions. :P

Hmm don't know if this is really that beneficial. Like Victoria said you'll probably get more caffeine but I'm guessing also more tannins. If your concerned about wasting the leaves there are plenty other topics about this, like using them for compose and tea baths.

This might even fall into the category of squeezing spent tea leaves, which has mixed feelings.

Interesting, I never considered the option of "juicing" the leaves after several steeps. I generally steep and resteep until when I smell the leaves in the pot, they have no real aroma anymore, so I am not sure there would be much of a benefit to doing so.

It is not a crime to conduct TeaExperiments and report back.
