Loose Tea in Manhattan

Can anyone reccomend a good place to buy loose teas in NYC?
I have been to TenRen in Chinatown and ItoEn's flagship store.
I'm wondering if there are any others worth visiting?

Read the reviews on Teamap.com, for starters... My SO likes the loose tea from Alice's Teacup, which I think is all right. I mostly order my loose tea online, so I don't have any other suggestions.

most any tea cafe will also sell you loose tea.

If you check out the second floor of TSalon Cafe (20th St/5th Ave), they have an entire loose tea store.

I also like the Tea Spot on W. 3rd and Macdougal

T Salon closed a while ago (I think for renovations)--or has it re-opened yet?

I went to Alice's Tea Cup w/a friend last week--decent tea, but best of all I love their scones!!

Thank goodness for this Board! I didn't know that TSalon closed (or moved as it is). I just checked their site and not only have they moved to W 26th Street, but they are opening another store as well on Ninth Avenue! www.tsalon.com

Thanks for the heads-up! I will have to check this out!

Silver Tips Tea Room, http://www.silvertipstea.com, which I guess it isn't exactly in NYC, but I understand it to be close.

I've never been there, but I buy 95% of my black tea from their website, and I've always been pleased.

Sympathy from the Kettle has lots. They have about 130 teas but I think that they are a bit pricey, about $8 for 2 oz.

I'll speak kindly for Tea Spot as well - have had some very nice visits there. Can't say much for ambiance, but the tea is good and the staff knowledgeable.

How do you guys feel about the tea selection at Porto Rico Importing Co. on Bleecker St? Haven't been back since the "Tea Education of Amanda" that's happened at Adagio HQ - is there reason to return?

Yup - spend a lot of time in the village...

I recently found the Tea Spot - Like it a lot....I have had tea to go and I've bought tea there..I've never actually sat down (typical NY)

Check out Subtle Tea on Madison Ave. Excellent teas there. I recommend Almond Cookie green tea, it's sooo good.
