Storing the storage

by snuvidkid » Feb 16th, '07, 16:32

Well today my tea came in I ordered a few days ago and now that I have my tea, my problem is that my tins are starting to get cluttered lol. I live in a dorm on campus and if anybody knows of some type of storage device I can put my tins in that'd be nice. As of right now I have 12 tall tins, 3 small, and 19 sample tins. I didn't get all these tins at once, they've just accumulated over the past year, and I really like collecting them.

Any help would be nice. Remember I'm in college so I don't have a whole lot of money to spend.

I remember my dorm days... :D

Two words: Cardboard Box.

...also, plastic storage containers are relatively cheap...

Cardboard boxes are great, but cardboard boxes + beer pong are not. Besides...this internet shopping excursion gives me an excuse to shirk work.

Those hideous plastic drawers were awful popular at my school, and they did make the nomadic student life a little easier. Time to pack? Just tape the drawers shut and throw it in a truck. The link gives a price of $40, but I think they're closer to $20 at Target.

Speaking of $20 and Target, they have an over door pantry rack that would likely make both you and your housing services people happy.

I had one of those... it was AWESOME!!! it didn't require screws so we were able to hang it over the closet door (or bathroom, what ever works). I wish I still had one, could use it now!

This is what I use in my apartment: a $30 wicker hamper/basket from Ross (a discount store). Nicely doubles as a brewing platform. :D

...although this is only for pu-erh; I keep my other teas on a shelf (covered). My advice for dorms is: think vertically, because you cannot think horizontally in those things. :/

I'm trying to imagine people playing beer pong in a cramped dorm room. Glad I was in a "35-man-campus-approved-housing" where academics come first Sunday-Thursday and Friday-Saturday are for partying in the common areas. :]

Tea pong... hmm, not sure if people get excited about being tea drunk.

I ditto on the plastic storage. They make for nice replacements of cabinets. I keep my tins in my kitchen cabinet and puerh cakes in a cardboard box, but plastic storage makes for nice socks and underpants storage.

Beer Pong?

by snuvidkid » Feb 19th, '07, 14:00

What's beer pong anyway? I've never had alcohol so I just thought I'd inquire.

It's a drinking game, basically. You set up 6 or 10 plastic solo cups filled 1/4 full with beer in a triangle on each side of a table, and try to throw ping pong balls in the other team's cups. If you get one in, they have to drink it. Of course there are lots of little rules that people like to add on to make things interesting, but thats the gist of it.

Yeah, I don't think tea pong will be making it big on the frat scene any time soon. Could you imagine brewing gong fu style for that many cups?

No alcohol? That's pretty impressive for a college student! It won't last long, though. :D

Took me two semesters before I had any alcohol. :/

Tea is much more interesting, though... :D

I have a medium sized bookshelf (about 5 shelves) that I store my tea on, it does the trick and doesn't take up too much room, if that's too big I'd try tupperware.
