So, I'm wondering if anyone has tried teavana's copper knot hong cha tea, and if there's anything similar but cheaper? or even better?
I find I like "stronger" blends, like irish breakfast teas or english blends, and adagio's yunnan jig is lovely but a bit basic, but I haven't tried the yunnan noir or any brand of dragon pearls.
Why I ask is I recently got some black tea from Ten Ren Tea in Chicago's chinatown, and it's very very strong, not just smokey or tobacco undertones--it literally smells like my grandfather's chewing tobacco! I do like the tea, but it the strongness of the tobacco-like aroma limits when or with what I can drink it.
I'd love to hear any recommendations!

Yunnan Noir and Dragon Pearls are both very good. Brew them as strong as you'd like.

If you like blue cheese, try it with your tea, you'd be amazed how well they go together. otherwise, I can't really help. Sorry

If you want to try an interesting tea, then try Special teas Irish Breakfast tea. It is totaly different from adagio's Irish breakfast. Be sure to use only a level teaspoon and steep for no more than three mins. as directed. I like to mix it half and half with adagio Irish Tea.
Note, I did not like that tea at first but it quickly grew on me after the third time I tried it. After that the Adagio seemed one dimentional by comparrison.

Re: Comparing Black Teas...
you sure its black tea? dark roasted oolong can be quite a tobacco smeller
Re: Comparing Black Teas...
yeah, it's definitely a black tea--I got a dark oolong tea as well. I think the black tea has more of an aroma then I'm used and the smokiness is more in the aroma of the tea leaves than in the tea itself. I'm finding I really like the tea, it's definitely growing on me.

Re: Comparing Black Teas...
I purchased a couple oz's of teavana's copper knot some time ago and it has been one of my favorite blacks. I have tried Adagio's Yunnan Jig and Noir, and although I enjoy them, they don't have quite the strength of the copper knot. I am thinking of trying adagio's dragon pearls a try but still have not decided. If you do give them I try I would be interested in your comparison!

i just put an order in about two days ago from adagio so im going to sit on that for at least a week before i buy more but that copper knot sounds good. Do they have sample sizes
Re: Comparing Black Teas...
Comparing all the black tea, I prefer Keemun Black Tea most. It is from Anhui province in China. It is "the queen of fragrance". It has excellent aroma of fruit and rose. Do you like it? Go to [5ktea dot com] to have more details about it~

This one has been spamming TC for a while. I am trying to avoid resorting to Mod approval for new registrations, but might have to to shake this one.
