Haven't posted here in a looonnnggg time. Been pretty busy with teaching and making work. Have a show opening up in the middle of January -- mostly teaware -- and have been concentrating on making work for it.

Fired the soda kiln last night and a fellow potter took some slow-mo video of the soda mixture being introduced into the kiln:

The stuff on the angle iron is a mixture of soda ash, baking soda, whiting (calcium carbonate), wood chips and water. At this point, the kiln is at about 2200 degrees F.

Thought you all might like to see some of the magic...

Chris,
I checked out your FB photos...Wow, nice work! I particularly liked the grouping of small cups. Good luck with the run of the show.

Absolutely!! My wife thanks you for all the money I spend on tea/teaware and for all the space it all takes up in our cupboard. Like I needed more ceramics around our small condo!

Likewise, but it is all good. Using this one tonight for Kukicha with some Mugi thrown in. In fact, use one of yours almost every evening right now. Great Winter Yunomi-s. Thanks.

I am really liking your new cups ... and pots. The "pink shino" is outstanding!

And tell your wife I say she is welcome!

Chris, I've paged back through your thread, and don't remember the answer, but do you have an Etsy shop or something like? It looks like your regular website is more just a showcase.
