Hello!

Here is my new (and only) Kyusu.

Bought it from "Zencha" for only 32 USD. It is a charm.
It holds 9 oz or 260 ml cca. I guess is the right size for Sencha for me.
Could I use it for Gyokkuro also?

Yes, you can use it for Gyokuro, In fact before I got my hohin I used my giant hagi kyusu for Gyokuro with success.

But you still need to keep track of the leaf to water ratio, as it will be quite different than Sencha.

That was a very good buy DavidV7. I have looked at those on Zencha's site a bunch of times. At that price, it is a good every day kyusu.

"Submitted for your approval" ... Kenji is the artisan, kokudei. *love love love* this one. Textured beautifully, yet smooth. So well made, and sooo incredibly functional.

Nice Kyusu! I love the large top opening. I have a couple that are a bit hard to clean out.

I am located in Switzerland. I do not know if I can get a lead testing kit here.
On the box the kyusu came in it says "Tokoname-Yaki".

I all ready have bought my second kyusu. I photographed both of them. Maybe anyone here can tell me anything about them? :?: That would be exiting. :)

The green one is the first one "Tokoname-Yaki".

It has a nicer feeling about it. It pours nicer, it passes the balance test on the handle and I can stop the pouring if covering the hole in the lid.

Silje, where did you get them?

If they are from a reputable source, they should be authentic Tokoname, and therefore I would not worry about the lead issue, personally.

Not sure I ever saw either of those before. I hope you enjoy them! Thanks for sharing them with us.

Thanks. Yes, the large opening is one feature that makes this a fave kyusu also extremely functional.

@Chip: I got the green one from a japanese shop in Germany: Ja-Mart. And the purple one I bought over the swiss version of ebay, ricardo. It was a couples wedding gift from a japanese friend. The kyusu hat sat in a cupboard for 20 years! Untill I bought it. :D So now it is in use.

I will ignore the lead issue and use them as much as I like. They are so nice. Especially the purple one. The mark on the purple one, is that the "signature" of the maker?

This thread seems to have been neglected a bit... and so have some of my kyusu, here is one that brews me a nice single cup. I made this from a a very iron rich clay so you can see I have no worries about anemia. the green is the result of some applied bone ash. I call this pot Lichen.
