What pu-erh are we drinking?

One of the intentionally aged teas, Pu-Erh has a loyal following.

Well, I ordered a green cake from tea springs. Should be here in about a week. I'll post with details after I've had a chance to try it.

What puerh from Tea springs would be good for some one new to puerh. I would prefer one under $25.

I bought the Xiaguan Gold Tou Cha - 100 grams for about $20 from Tea Springs. I have only tried a few pu erhs, but in my limited experience, this is excellent. I don't know how to describe the flavor, but for being a green tea, it is very pronounced. It lasts through multiple steepings.

I once went to a Chinese strip mall take out place. When they asked me what I wanted to drink I told them hot tea and they looked at me kind of funny. I guess they're used to everyone ordering soda. Anyway, the woman poured some hot water from the coffee machine into a paper cup then tossed in a spoonful of leaves from a tea tin. I didn't expect much, but when I tasted that tea I thought it was fantastic. Now I think that was very similar to what I bought from Tea Springs.
