LittlePig, LittlePig, where are you?

Hedgeapple "Guinomi-s" pictured with a Houjin (Gyokuro pot, Bizen clay) that holds 2 ounces on a good day, but more realistically 1.5 ounces.

The Guinomi make for a really interesting Gyokuro cup! They hold aout .5-.75 ounce each, perfectly matching up with this Houjin.

The insides really remind you of tortoise shell? I thought so ...

Uh. . . "not by the hair of my chinee chin, chin." Oops wrong fairy tale. Hi Chip thanks for dropping by and rattling my pen. That is one lovely houjin and goes very well with the hedge apple guinomi. Thanks so much for the pics. I am humbled.

Where have I been? I have been busy preparing for the coming sales season. Here is a pic of my booth May 1st at the Spring Pottery Fair, Cincinnati Ohio. The booth is a work in progress.

The day started out raining and miserable but I am grateful to report it got much better. One delight of the day was one of my neighbors three floors up who keep sending bubbles down over us all.

Also, here are a couple pics while I am at it. These are a couple slab constructed tea cups. This kind is really my favorite to drink from. I am especially fond of their glaze--the fussy and subtle corn kernel ash fired in the gas kiln.

Another Studio Diversion

Dear TeaChat Reader,
As always I manage to stay busy. This week I get to fire the gas kiln at the art center in Kettering Ohio, so (as always) I am firing biscuit and glazing up to the last minute.

Also, per my usual, I have found another slab diversion in the studio. This, from some problem solving for a student. I am now on to making slab cylinders and beating them into spheres. Here is an image of teapot prototype #1. It is still green in this photo. More later.

That pert little teapot prototype is back from her glaze fire and I find I am a little surprised by her color. I had wanted her fleshy but she is actually a little pink in a spot by her spout. Definitely, she is her own girl and I am OK with that.

About them apples,
In November I assembled three little hedge apple tea pots, fired them to biscuit and I stopped. They just were not right and I needed some time to figure things out. Well I have been at the hedge apple tea pots again in studio and am a little happier with them this time around. Here is an image of two. They are still green and mostly I am still playing around with their spouts. . . We shall see.

so you've got time before you are compelled to buy

Geek, the body of the large one is 5" in diameter at this stage. With shrinkage It will be around 4 inches

They look cool LP! Are there any screens in these.
