Harvested-on and Packaged-on Dating
I've announced Adagio's plans to begin printing the harvest date and packaged date on our new tea pouches in an article at http://www.tearetailer.com/article_65.html. I'd love your feedback.

This is huge! Anyone who has been around here long enough will know that this is my big beef with many vendors. Sell by dates on tea are simply worthless. And most sites give you no harvest info at all.
More info for an educated consumer and increased transparency! I hope this carries over onto the site product info as well!!!!!
Great news, Charles.
Applause and encore!!!

I think that is a great idea, Charles! The more information we have, the better.

This is a huge step! I hope this kicks off a trend with other tea vendors being more transparent with information like this. Bravo!

Having 2 dates in the package could be confusing to customers. I LOVE the harvest date idea. If the package date is for internal purposes, I'd suggest putting it in a number code separate from the harvest date (i.e. if your tea is packaged on June 6th, 2010 your internal number could be 20100606 without a description).

Applause, indeed! It's not the BIGGEST deal to me, but I'm glad to hear it.

I agree this is HUGE and very important!! Thank you!!! But we want to see the harvest date when we order too. Not find out later when we get the package.

Ditto on this, I was just talking about this in another thread. I love the plan to put the harvest info on the package, but very much hope to also see this info on the the Adagio website. I am at a loss right now, for example, as to whether I'll be getting 2009 or 2010 harvest if I were to order Darjeeling 1 or Spring Darjeeling.
Keep up the good work, this is a definite step in the right direction!

I'm pretty sure that's last year's Spring Dj.
Sorry to say.

When they don't say, I always expect it means the harvest is NOT new. If I am wrongly assuming, and there's fresh 2010 Spring Darjeeling waiting to be ordered... <sigh>...

I checked and the Spring Darjeeling is fresh 2010 harvest.

Mikael, thanks for the information. Do you happen to know when the 2010 tea arrived? I'm rather surprised there was no announcement by Adagio. Also, does this mean the 2009 stock was completely sold out? If not, will the old harvest be sold at a reduced price? If there's both 2009 and 2010 harvest "in da house", will the packages be clearly labeled to show which one was sent out?
