If you could drink one tea...

by SnapshotCat » May 27th, '07, 09:45

Just a fun poll to liven things up...

If you could only drink one tea for the rest of your life, what would it be?

And on the other tea - what tea would you only drink if it was the last tea on earth?

I haven't tried enough to answer yet but I'm curious to see what the rest of you say.

That is an interesting question, because my favorite teas and what I'd choose to drink every day for the rest of my life are two different things. I love silver needle, I possitively adore dong ding, but in my heart of hearts I am a coffee-drinker, born and raised; I need something dark and malty, so if I had to choose, it would be Rishi's Golden Yunnan.

Any teas from Twinnings, Taylors of Harrogate, or the flavored stuff from Republic of tea. If that was all that was left in the world, I'd just go back to coffee.

Thats a tough one for me to answer because I have one favorite for hot and another favorite for iced. So I'll answer this way:

Hot: Adagio's Irish Breakfast
Iced: Adagio's Blueberry Black

One tea I wouldn't even drink it was the last tea on the planet is:

Pu-Erh - from anywhere !

I'm so glad I don't actually have to pick only one tea.... If I had to choose, I would probably choose puerh.

As for the last tea on earth, it would be wild oolong, but I would rather drink coffee than that.
Super elite tea facist....

...sencha, but it has to be good sencha and I reserve the right to change my mind to Long Jing...

...lapsang souchong...would rather brew sawdust which tastes about the same...

Good one, I didn't think about Lapsang Souchong.

Rest of my life? Some variation of Meigui Hongcha--Rose Black. Nothing else gets me contemplative faster. It's the only tea I can say will almost always be on my shelf.

Never will I ever (again)? Lan Gui Ren.

Oh, that's tough because I really vary what I drink to how I feel/time of day/mood of the moment. However, if I had to choose one I think I'd pick a nice oolong.

As for the never drink? Anything which has been in even remote contact with jasmine because of the horrible rebound headaches it gives me. Although, lapsang souchong is up there, as well.

she's got good taste.

edit: look at me using gender stereotypes. Just cos' her avatar is a ball of yarn, talks about her cat, and uses the name cinnamon, I assume that she's a she.

He, she, it, you've got good taste.

Of course you folks who know me will know that I would drink pu-erh for both my answers. But of course makes perfect sense! Pu-erh is both green and black depending on its age. So, essentially you can have the best of both world and have a wide variety in your tea chest! Smart huh! hehe

*snarf* Fortunately you assumed correctly. And, thank you for validating my good taste.

hehehe.

My choices:

One tea for the rest of my life (eek! this was hard): Earl Grey
(runners up included TaysTea One Day in Provence-rooibos with lavender, rose petals, and currants and White Peony)

One tea that would have to be force fed: Kukicha (shudders...it's just too much. that and pu-erh. heh)

Justin, when did you get to 114 posts?! haha.
