google redirect

by bearsbearsbears » Jun 17th, '10, 13:00

My browser is sick with a google redirect virus/problem, and I was sad to see that Adagio was a patron. Many redirects to www.adagio.com/gifts occur when clicking on google links to tea-themed sites & blogs.

Dunno if Adagio is aware of this, but someone you paid to represent you on the web is doing so through a google redirect scam.

I passed this on to Adagio so they are aware of it right away.

I told Ilya, our tech, about this. Thank you for letting us know.

That is sad, it's the crappiest form of advertising, I don't understand who would type in "how to fix my car" ... get redirected to a tea website and think "hmmm this seems legit! I'm going to type in my credit card information now!"

I'm not sure what you mean by a google redirect virus. Could you explain the problem in greater detail so that I may look into finding a fix.

Thanks,
Ilya

It's a browser hijack. When you click on any links that have been queried with google the browser is redirected to any number of other websites as a form of "forced advertisement".

[edit] Usually happens in the form of a virus or trojan, I believe the designer(s) of which have a list of websites that become the forced advertisements when the person who has contracted the PC virus is redirected.

+1 when i search for something in google, let's say it's tea related, and click on one of the search results, say maitre_tea's blog, the browser occasionally redirects me to adagio.com/gifts (instead of directing me to his blog).

I've never heard of this issue. If you can somehow identify the affiliate link that send you to the gift page, let me know and I can hopefully track down the affiliate that is responsible and remove him from our program.

It seems to be: googleads.g.doubleclick.net

EDIT:
this appears to be my problem: http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/as ... k-redirect

We have removed the affiliate that was responsible for these redirects.

Moderator Edit: And yet, you are just a dirty little spammer ... how pathetic! Spamming multiple forums too, I see!

I think you have earned the spammer avatar! Congratulations, you have earned it.
