Dinner: Impossible

Did anyone see the recent episode of 'Dinner: Impossible' on the Food Network? They were at Peet's Coffee and Tea in San Francisco and had to make every dish using either coffee or tea AND use methods that coffee and tea are prepared. First they had to do a "coffee break" for 40 people, while prepping for a dinner four hours later. Then they sprung a "tea break" on them. I pretty much ignored the coffee dishes, but the tea-related things they made looked pretty good. Tea-smoked Salmon (jasmine, I think); Clams steeped in tea (Lapsang); Chicken cutlets with tea, bread crumbs, parmesan, etc. breading; Lo Mein Salad; Quiche, and others. Unfortunately, they only have a few of the recipes on their site.

Anyhoo, it was really interesting to see the crew coming up with different ways to use tea either ground up, infused, or steamed.

Had this episode on late last night, but bed beckoned. Did he succeed with his mission?

He was a minute late with the Coffee Break, but managed to make it for the others. He said he didn't think all the dishes were up to his standards, but the Peetniks seemed pretty happy. I thought most of the dishes looked pretty tasty!

I didnt watch the show but sometimes I cook with tea :)

teas are great as part of marinades :)

That sounds so cool!! I should start watching more TV than the World Cup and occasional baseball games... :lol:

I cook with tea sometimes also. Mostly I make tea-flavored ice cream. Mmm.

They made a mushroom salad that looked really good, but I can't remember what kind of tea they used for the marinade/dressing.
