3 grades of Anxi Xiping TiKwanYin after the 2nd night brewing. Look like ice-cream scoops in a hot summer night. Drinking it cool is the only way... but one has the Chaiqi of a Wuyi

Sea Dyke Brand Ti Kuan Yin. Reading Debunix's frequent recommendations of this tea and always on the look out for an inexpensive but good tea, last Sunday I ventured into one of the real Chinatowns in SF, Stockton Street. The third hole-in-the-wall market I tried had it.

Brewing it gong fu style, it was a little too roasty for me but not a bad tea. I then switched to grandpa style with it, and it is very much more to my taste. Sweet and less roasty. It will probably become a regular work tea as it is easiest to brew grandpa style at work, where I tend not to make more expensive teas.

Thanks for the recommendation, Debunix.

Glad you liked it.

It is never a 'wow!' tea, but always comforting and sometimes quite delicious. If I have the time/patience to do gongfu cha, I will almost always choose something that is more rewarding brewed that way.

Just finished off the second steep of Ten Ren's "Ti Kuan Yin" Oolong. Nothing amazing, it seems to be a pretty simple tea. It was on sale, can't go wrong with that!

Camellia Sinensis - 2010 AliShan - Good, not crazy good. Looks like FLT will be the AliShan winner this year, IMHO.

Finishing off some rishi bao zhong this morning. It was much better earlier in the year when it was more fresh but still tastes fine. Currently this is my favorite bao zhong.

Finishing a 2nd thermos full of tea from just a few grams of Fall Alishan Oolong from Norbu. Amazing how the flavor holds on.

I am really digging some tea samples I received from Ishopo, specifically their Lishan Fu Shou oolong, which is really good. I think I like it better than the Da Yu Ling. They recently changed their website and now offer a lot more different types of Lishans (from specific regions) and a whole listing of Da Yu Lings (grown at different elevations) Seems like they're going hard core with their tea offerings. I don't know the elevation of the Da Yu Ling I ordered, but suspect it was the least expensive one.

The mysterious red box oolong received in a tea swap from aya_s. A nice, mellow, green Taiwanese oolong.
