second go with the takumi.
This is broad mouth filling stuff.
It spreads across your palate with
little or no astringency.
(I personally like the dance between grip and smoothness)
buttered spring veggies
good stuff, interesting lesson on how 10F
can RUIN a good cup.

Moe.
1:1, 165*, ~60s.
Umami, astringency, minerally/metallic, lacks much complexity.
Nice though, strikes me as a very nice every day tea.
That said, accompanies food extremely well.
B-.
add - nice for blending too I think.

Reading these posts led me to do a tasting of the Moe from Zencha today. It has ample flavor, certainly not mild.
It is not smooth like a higher priced sencha such as Takumi, but is pretty much what I would expect at this price point (shipping included). It is hard to do a tasting of Takumi and then Moe since the Takumi is in a whole other league.

I dont know where to start so I just start at 1
Supreme Shizuoka First Flush Kukicha
3.5 grams at 170 60 sec 4oz water
Oh this is very nice, I wasnt expecting too much from this tea.
Really nice and clean, light, subtle and sweet mild to moderate astringency and light sweet aroma, nice finish.
nothing mind blowing but it did catch me by surprise
Seems to be a great enjoyable tea with all its subtle high notes and sweet overlays upon the nice astringency.

2. Nishi First Flush Sencha, Organic Japanese Green Tea
3.5 grams 165 at 4 oz water
deep veggies, light and clean no astringency, very odd and peculiar flavors to my palette, I tend to light astringency, its what give tea that crisp refreshing bite.
This tea is not for me maybe for those with a different palette. Its not bad at all just not my tastes.

3. Kagoshima Shincha Sae Midori
3.5 grams 4 oz water 170, 60 sec
Very nice tea, nice balanced astringency that dances and lingers on the tongue. I find a light nice aroma, a touch of sweetness, all in all a nice balanced enjoyable tea.

5. Shincha Moe
3.5 grams, 175, 70 sec, 4oz
I was expecting more intensity from this one. I find it to be very mild, light sweet greens, with a nice little astringency.

Re: OTTI 2010 Round 4 Shincha Encore!
Yesterday I returned from the sea side (10 days of it) and surprise, surpise...Chips package was waiting for me...this time extremely fast, compared to rounds 1 and 3
Tried Kukicha today and was pleasantly surprised...maybe because last two months I was having only oolongs from OTTI and silver needel white tea from yunnan sourcing...so great to be back with japanese greens
I agree with others about Kukicha...quite nice tea, little light for my tastes, but nice starter for other gems that hide in this OTTI...
Thank you Chip.

Hey Ambrose - you closed the gap very fast and rushed through the teas. 6 teas in 3 hours! - Wow about 100 oz of tea in that time - hope your enjoyment didn't come short
Nishi First Flush Sencha, Organic for me today.
Is it just an illusion or do organic teas smell different? Even the leaves have a touch of some more green in my nose.
1:1 ~160°F 60"
I would even try to go a bit shorter with the first infusion. Very rounded felling about this tea. Soft and nice. Just a hint of an aftertaste.
It is a light tea. Three nice infusions. Fourth and fifth more for coloured water with a hint of tea.
Would compare it with the Shincha Moe.
