Where to buy Pu Erh?

One of the intentionally aged teas, Pu-Erh has a loyal following.

Where to buy Pu Erh?

by mike007 » Jun 24th, '07, 18:07

I am pretty new to tea compared to all of you here. I have had alot of samples and have been tasting alot of different teas over the past months. I was just wondering if there was a good place that your people could recommend for me to order Pu Erh tea. I am not looking for anything really big, just enough for me to sample it to see how i like it. I have seen that on Red Blossom they have one called Taichi Pu-erh and didnt know if that would be a good one for my first Pu Erh or not. thanks for the help.

Help

There is actually a pu-erh vendor in your neck of the woods. the Puerh shop. HouDe would also be a nice place to buy samples in the states at least. Try to stay away from vendor brand pu . It could lead you to not liking the stuff. As the vendors for help. They will be glad to show you the right direction.

If you're within driving distance of Indianapolis, you might want to e-mail the Puerh Shop proprietor and see if you can pick up your order or something like that. FedEx is ridiculous, especially if it's only going a few towns over.

Mary,
I live in Californa and occasionally order from Puerh Shop. He uses Priority Mail most of the time and it's pretty reasonable shipping.

Yeah, I know he uses the USPS for shipping. I just couldn't think of it at the time of the post and didn't think it really mattered one way or the other. Shipping is shipping.

Still, Indianapolis isn't exactly a big city. I think I could go all the way around the 465 loop in less than an hour. For Indy people interested in puerh, it's nice to ask if there's a pick up option. It might save packaging dollars on both ends and perhaps someday entice the owner to try a brick 'n mortar establishment.

I buy mine from a source who ships directly from China, and he really has the best prices, and is honest and knowledgeable. He sells on ebay under the name Yunnan Sourcing. Very wide selection, also.
