Tea in Portland
I'll be taking a trip to Portland, OR soon and was wondering if anyone knew of some good tea places? I know of Tao of Tea, as well as Serenity Art.
Are there any good Japanese tea houses there?

Re: Tea in Portland
That's pretty much it, unfortunately. The only other I haven't been to is Townshend's Alberta Teahouse. They get their teas from J-Tea, but I don't know what they get and doubt they get the really good stuff (or know how to brew it).
For Tao of Tea I would say to try the Chinese Gardens; if nothing else, the atmosphere will be nice.
If you're into the spiritual stuff then you can get/catch a tasting at Heaven's Tea - http://www.heavenstea.com/ (He does semi-regular group events, but you can also schedule something private.)
The Japanese Gardens does Japanese tea on occasion, but I don't think that they have a regular tea house that you can visit any time. Check their schedule: http://www.japanesegarden.com/events/summer

It's Townshend's Tea Alberta Street Teahouse -- i.e., Townshend's Tea on Alberta street, as opposed to their location in Bend OR

Quoted from website:
"This evening is not to be missed, we will drink rare aged puer
teas which will leave you walking on the clouds, really. These
precious teas have the ability to shift you into many states-
deep relaxation, joy, profound expansion, meditation or make
you”tea drunk’ These teas are considered very sacred in Asia and
it is considered a rare privilege to drink them."
I was certainly not aware that some puerh teas are considered sacred. Anyone has references on that subject ?

Well, there's a Québec street in Calgary while the whole province is a lousy place to get a decent poutine.
Er, I guess that's a related comment.

Really, small, quaint, and homey little tea-shop/bar. Friendly staff, unpretentious, and a really relaxing place. They are more of an all-around tea place, where as Tao of Tea is really specialized.
I used to live in Portland, wish I could go back :/
