I stumbled across these during an unplanned trip back home. The pot comes from Seven Cups and everything else was an incredibly lucky find at an antiques mall.

KUTANI ASPLOSION. And a flying horse's backside!

(I recently posted a faircup depicting a young child mooning you, and nobody noticed.)

Here's another awesome Petr Novak cup! I just love his glazes. My wife calls them my "ugly, pretty cups". Thank you again Petr for such awesome stuff!

Last weekend, I visited the Nashville Farmer's Market to get some fresh fruits and veggies. I came home with 3 watermelons and a basket of fresh peaches, as well as some nice herbs. But, imagine my surprise when I walked through the "flea market" section, usually only filled with junkie stuff. I met a kind older gentleman with a huge display of pottery! He told me his was a family of 8 potters, and his teacher was his wife. He had tons of different things on display, mostly not suitable for tea at all. But, I did come home with 3 nice cups. I've only photographed one so far, and its is my favorite, but I do apologize for the crappy iPhone photos, I don't think they do it justice. I have to fix myself a light box so I can more accurately capture the colors. My home's wall color (deep orange/terra cotta) reflects on everything. Anyway, here are a few shots of my Farmer's Market cup, which was a whole 10 USD.

That is Stunning Kymidwife!

I've been trying to learn to identify certain glazes by type, and that could either be a Tenmoku (oil spot), or a Nuka. But those are really only my guesses.

Either way, simply stunning.

Kymidwife,
Wow, really nice find, the glaze on this piece is amazing.

Adam,
I think you're really close on the glaze, I think it might be Nuka over Tenmoku. I love this combo, one of my favorites.

Michael

What a great find for $10! Looks like this "sea-cucumber" glaze teabowl currently being sold on Magokorodo's Ebay store.

The larger, more detailed pictures start about half-way down the page.

kymidwife ~ This is a really, really great find. Do you know if its made by the family member or they had it passed down by the family? Looks to me a much older piece :D Congrats! ~ T

He said the pieces were all "family-made". But, some of them were not brand new. At least some of the artists had scrawled initials and dates on their pieces, and I saw some that were made in the 80's and 90's.

I agree, it was an exciting find. All 3 of the cups I picked up were marked 15, and then when I went to pay, he said "30 for all"... so I was like WooHooooo! I'd have paid 30 just for that cup.
