I often sweeten my tea (English Breakfast) with amber surgar crystals containing saffron.

I cannot explain the taste, but it is so delightful!

Sounds very interesting. I have heard of using saffron in cooking, but never heard of it with tea.

I have a saffron crocus in my garden, when it blooms this fall, I will need to give it a try.

I realize this is probably a machine translation, but what could he/she have possibly been trying to say that turned into "catching tattoos"?

Actually, I never understood all that "it's so healthy" bit. I mean, carrots are full of vitamin E, but I don't chuck a good few pieces of carrot in my tea just to get the benefit of both :)

Carrots... you know... daucus carota subspecies sativus. Add a little celery, a few onions... dang that's good tea. Or soup. :)

To be honest, I virtually never have herbal tea, but I do not doubt the potential health benefits of various herbs and spices (but not veggies). If people want to put them into their tea, I figure they could do a lot worse...such as artificial colors and flavors.

I generally enjoy tea for the the whole tea preparation and drinking experience. The fact that I consider it to be a healthy alternative to the heavily processed beverages is a huge reenforcement for me.

The saffron sounds very interesting because it is so unusual, exotic...and such a costly spice. Plus the fact that I have it in my garden...I may try this.

No, the carrots are there to make a comparison.

Image
1. Tea good
2. Carrots good.
3. Effect comparable but not spectacular. (I usually think that it's because carrots are less exotic.)

Anyway, that's my take on it.

edit: hmm, the forum stretches my thingamabob a bit or something. Original file at http://aycu21.webshots.com/image/23860/2006260967577056027_rs.jpg if it's just too illegible.

Jomana, I am also aware of the health benefits of saffron. I use it in my tea everyday.

I usually have a cup or two with saffron in the late afternoon.
