Actually, I never understood all that "it's so healthy" bit. I mean, carrots are full of vitamin E, but I don't chuck a good few pieces of carrot in my tea just to get the benefit of both
Carrots... you know... daucus carota subspecies sativus. Add a little celery, a few onions... dang that's good tea. Or soup.
To be honest, I virtually never have herbal tea, but I do not doubt the potential health benefits of various herbs and spices (but not veggies). If people want to put them into their tea, I figure they could do a lot worse...such as artificial colors and flavors.
I generally enjoy tea for the the whole tea preparation and drinking experience. The fact that I consider it to be a healthy alternative to the heavily processed beverages is a huge reenforcement for me.
The saffron sounds very interesting because it is so unusual, exotic...and such a costly spice. Plus the fact that I have it in my garden...I may try this.
