Help me identify cake
It's raw pu erh but I can't read Chinese. Btw, it didn't have a tag attached showing the number.
Thanks.
Re: Help me identify cake
It's a 2003 Changtai Yichanghao made from Dadugang Arbor tree leaves.

Re: Help me identify cake
Thanks for your help.
Do you have a rough idea about its price in China? I just want to know if I overpaid.
Cheers.

Re: Help me identify cake
I bought one from skip4tea for RM 200 which is about 65 US dollars. It's listed as 2001. I thought it was very good.
Re: Help me identify cake
Cool, I didn't. Roughly the same price. Thanks for the heads up and for bringing up a vendor I didn't know of.
Cake is not bad, but not for me.

Re: Help me identify cake
Hello Rich P., I was trying to buy from this vendor but I am not able to reach them. The thing is I want to use paypal but don´t have the option listed.
I tried with 2 email addresses but they didn´t reply.
Any suggestions?
Best wishes.

Re: Help me identify cake
There is a great deal of controversy about early Changtai. Generally because people kept playing fast and loose with the truth, and people keep doing all sorts of odd misleading things by accident.
I wondered about that '01 placement. The wrappers were usually for '03 and thereabouts. While there are notable '03 Changtai teas, most recently being hyped is a Bulang that uses a similar wrapper (and the top product 250g is always popular), by and large, you have to be careful buying Changtai. Only certain sort of products are liable to be good (Yiwu, Jing Gu, a couple other places), and many people put them into wet or bad storage (for the early ones). Skip4tea's lack of information and consignment model makes it a pretty bad idea to buy something like that Changtai without more information or samples.

Re: Help me identify cake
Changtai was good when Yiwu was cheap enough..they didn't have farms but bought from farms..the price of Yiwu bushes went up few years ago (dunno exact year)..like Six Mountain..their later stuffs became so-so
BTW it's Changtai hao, not Yichang hao
