Have not been able to find much information on how to brew this type. Any suggestions on a good way to brew this tea? (grams per 8 oz. , water temperature and steeping time for first steep and subsequent steeping)

I have about a pound of it already...still working on the brewing issues but I notice it's very fruity like mango and apricot nectar flavors, no vegetal flavors at all, no astringincy no matter how many times or how long it's steeped. It gives a very light golden color when steeped. Seems pretty hardy. In flavor it has become my favorite white. I bought mine at Simpson and vail which they only sell satrupa estate. I got a sample from upton teas of the mothola estate Assam white haven't tried it yet. It's a limited time tea since only a few estates do it and once it's sold out you have to wait for next year. I recommend you try it it's got such a different flavor than the Chinese whites. There's also a white Darjeeling but I haven't tried any.

The satrupa estate one is a bai mu dan and the mothola estate is a silver needle...so far I like the satrupa one better...more complexity in flavor I think

White assam is sooooo good. Had some amazing stuff last year that made me weep.

I think I brewed a teaspoon in a gaiwan for a couple of minutes worked really well. Then just did one more brew for like 5 mins or so.

This stuff was really good though I could have probably brewed it in a shoe over night and it would have been smooth as silk.

Think I was brewing mine at 80c which sounds a little high but it has that malty vibe that needs a bit more heat to come out properly.

Yes it's my favorite white hands down and holds up well to abuse....I actually enjoy the flavor of it when it's steeped longer...like 5 mins first steep and longer from there and haven't been able to reach the end of it's flavor no matter how many steeps I do...a real gem it is. Where do you buy yours from?

I like the bai mudan form of it more than the silver needle form.

Yes, it is a rather rare white and sounds delicious. Not very easy to find. Zen mentioned it in the chat when I said I was having some Spring '10 Yunnan Silver Needles. Now it's on my must try list.
