OTTI Round 6 TGY, however you spell it.

Started off with the no.5 today.

Full sample in a gaiwan around 100-120ml, one flash rinse.

As noted above this is not very heavy on the initial flavour but produces a nice thick soup and the buttery mouthfeel I look for in tgy. It's a nice clean tea and is still going well after seven infusions. Definitely a grassy/hay component, maybe a touch of fresh white mushroom.

A nice entry level tgy, maybe a little lacking in flavour, I can't find anything I didn't like here.

Really looking forward the rest of the samples now, this is a nice change as I've been drinking mainly roasted or old oolong of late. Hopefully I'll have more to say once I've managed to compare it with some of the others

I just need to mix it with some oats and the rabbits have a treat for tomorrow.

I think I'm going to have some Yak Butter Tea when I get home. Now I've got a taste for it. I wonder how yak butter would taste on a potato. Probably not good.

There's a future otti if ever I heard one. Sending samples of yak butter and foil wrapped pu around the golbe marked 'gift' might not go down to well with customs though....

just had #5 today. its pretty similar to the tgy i currently own from some unknown source. brew is a little less flavourful but quite decent. promises that grade 4 3 2 and 1 would be pretty good indeed

On to #4 this morning.

After 2 infusions, the best I can say that the difference (for me) between #5 and #4 are very slight. #4 just seems to have a little "more" of everything. It smelled a bit more floral, has a slightly creamier mouth feel and has more umami than #5. Actually, if anything, it is slightly less sweet. But really, the differences are slight. Both are delicious. I look forward to the next 3 or 4 infusions.

Should I feed the spent leaves to my daughters hamster?
I don't think our cat would be too enthused... :lol:

Mine arrived yesterday. I wish I had logged on to the forum before I dove in, but lets just say I'm pretty much done with #1 and #2.

Besides the outstanding color of #1, my wife and I both preferred #2. This may be a palate development issue. Neither of us cared for the "squashiness" of #1; though the last steepings were incredible. I think I did 6 or 7 steepings. Both 1 and 2 had very nice lingering finishes in the throat. I am still tasting #2 occasionally at 10:33 am from an 8 am brewing.
