New from Toronto!

Hello,

questions:

I've been drinking pu-erh for a few months now (in hopes that the health benefits are real! also it's yummy)...I bought it loose from a local toronto tea store chain:

http://www.theteaemporium.com

about $30 for a small bag..

they also have these:

http://www.theteaemporium.com/Pu-ehr-Tea.html

what do you think? are those any good? which type do you think is worth trying? some of the other loose stuff? a brick?

any chance they sell fakes? how would i know?

whats the difference between raw and "cooked" puerh? is one maybe better than the other re. cholesterol etc..

where's the most reliable and trustworthy place to order on -line?

thanks
andrew

Welcome to teachat!!

I don't know which kind of pu erh is best for health...
I would suggest to get your pu erh from places like

http://www.yunnansourcing.com/store/
or
http://stores.ebay.com/Dragon-Tea-House
or
http://stores.ebay.com/China-Cha-Dao

The delivery time can be long but you have better chances of getting good pu erh and at a much more reasonable price :)

Shu/cooked/ripe pu erh undergoes a process to imitate aged sheng/raw without having to wait that many years. I tend to prefer raw pu erh, but it is really a matter of personal taste, I would suggest you to try samples of both kinds.
