Hope to see some photos very soon Twino! Yeah, there is a cool layer of violet. And for how translucent the glaze is, it is still very complex.

Looks like a spectacular "Spirit" Victoria. #1 was on a lot of request lists including ours.

This hagi is like a sponge, might take a week to fully dry ...

I love how when you look at the interior of the cup from the side, it looks brown, but when you look straight in, it almost seems to glow with an ghostly blue light. The more I'm looking at this cup, the more I notice about it. Thanks again Chip

... thanks IPT ... er you are welcome.

I was blowing up some photos a little earlier, really amazing. Found a "spirit hand" in the process ...

Well, there is a guy in Russia who would like to divert yours to him ... and his birthday is coincidentally on the 27th of October!
Oh... I definitely want the Spirit Cup! ...but I would never take one from the fellow tea chatter. I don't want to ruin my tea karma  And for my birthday I'm waiting for a nice guinomi from Artistic Nippon. It will help me to wait for another Hagi SO.
p.s. I still can't beleive it -- it was only 10:21 and it was too late already!!!

Wow! Beautiful 'Spirits' everyone, thank you for sharing these ghostly beauties with us.

Looking forward to seeing more.

We have used ours quite a few times already for our daily morning sencha, it really is quite dramatic with tea in it.

All right! I finally was able to pick up my hagi from the Post Office on Friday, and I even finished preparing them last night.

I present to you, cup #4!

I don't own a lot of teaware, and this is my first hagiyaki item (well, along with the mizusashi). It's got such a great feel, and the rawness of the clay is amazing -- especially with that translucent glaze. I'm definitely excited to have gotten to participate, and look forward to using it, and to future offerings!

ありがとう ございました!!

Ohhh, nice. Glad you like your spirit, SEISHIN!

あなたは大歓迎です。(no idea if that is translated correctly, but you are welcome!)

Absolutely... I'm honored to be a part of it.

And that was a very exact translation! It literally says that I am a warm welcome.

どういたしまして! (dou itashimashite) is a good "you're welcome" (:

For those who are curious,

神仙 -- shinsen; what we've called "spirits" -- the dictionary translates this as "immortal mountain wizard," which is apparently something from Taoism. It's also used in referring to mountain hermits, or those 'not bound by earthly desires."

青磁 -- seiji (sometimes aoji); means blue porcelain, or celadon porcelain

I received this in the mail today (shipped SAL, arrived in 8 days fast.) It's incredibly beautiful and quite unlike anything else in my collection.
