First, some nice crackling on my 'granite' yunomi from ginkgo: the inside is stained, the outside remains snow white.

Today, inspired by the 'Spirit' cups being celebrated, I took out my Seigan hagi and started shooting. It was hard to stop, as they are so amazing, closer and closer with the camera, playing with flash, window light, and filtered sunlight.

Eventually I ended up with two sets of images on my flickr, one for the Seigan blue and one for the Sansai terbineri.

The Seigan blue is very dramatic

Image

and the glaze has translucency in areas almost as ethereal as the 'Spirit' cups

Image

and I'm just a sucker for swirly gorgeous variegated colors

Image

and the clay foot just feels powerful with the embedded larger gravels

Image.

The Sansai is more subtle

Image

with different moods on different sides

Image

Image

A vast white interior, with abundant crackles

Image

Clay peeking through at the rim

Image

And again, that very powerful-looking clay at the foot

Those are beautiful, debunix. That blue is especially gorgeous.

Yes sure I meant cup
How big is your "right size"?
I think I need one too. :)

@David: Those two cups are amazing - I love the coulour.

@debunix: I really like this ginkgo cup - I thing I am a fan of crackles :)

Thank you a lot for these wonderful photos debunix !! Ginkgo's work is amazing. I am in contact with her right now for a chawan. Fantastic close shots of Seigan's glaze. His work surely deserves a close look.

Did you use a box to take your pictures as Seeker did with his chawan ?

Does anyone think they could tell me what type of pots I have based on the pictures on page 24?

The red one at the right bottom corner looks like a Chao Zhou teapot. So it should be good for dan cong, taiwanese light roasted wulong and young sheng puerh. Here is the extent of what I can tell.

Yeah it looks like it was spun on a wheel and I noticed a comment of yours in another thread about someone elses' that made me think it might be a chao zhou.

While I think I might like the blue one better on its own for sheer-Van Gogh-Starry Night-ness, I have to admit that the white Sansai might be a lovelier match with green tea, because the white interior shows it off so well. See today's teaDay post for proof.
