1. The Target
Certain yixing studios make pots in a variety of different styles and sizes. The tradition in many Chinese markets is for larger family / household sized LARGER pots. The tendency amongst fastidious TeaChatters is to go for smaller sized pots. The yixing studios often produce pots that are JUST the shape that TeaChatters want to own and use, but in the wrong size
When doing comparitive tastings in different clays an OverLarge pot can be too expensive on tea
if one wants to really try out tea density and finish the teas in different pots without getting teadrunk.2. The expense
I see that wholly hand made pots are more expensive than half hand made pots [and I understand why that is the case]
I presume that half hand made pots REQUIRE a Model to be made and that the process of making the model requires time, effort and cost. For every wholly hand made pot, only a few perhaps result in a model being made - presumably if a NEW hand made pot suggests to the artist that THIS would be a good seller - then a model would be made.
3. The nub
I feel [strongly feel] a new order coming for a few new pots from ShouZhen and half hand made is cheaper than wholly hand made - the only trouble is - the more I scour the website for style and size the more I worry that perhaps the sizes are too large for me.
If other TeaChatters were to commit to a purchase - might Cheng be able to persuade his (/her?) father to produce a NEW model?
I find that many styles that I would like already exist in the 170ml-ish size - but would prefer one in either the 100-120ml size or 130-140ml size?

Presumably once a model has been made, any available clay can be selected when ordering!
