What tea do you drink after your meals?

by bagua7 » Nov 17th, '10, 03:37

I was curious about what teas are drunk in here after a regular meal. You could specify the type of tea you drink according to breakfast, lunch and dinner categories.

I normally have a green tea for breakfast (can't eat anything solid), pu-erh after lunch when I am not working and a light oolong after dinner, usually TGY or Lishan.

The Chinese traditionally have pu-erh after each meal, and still do in certain occasions, but unfortunately I can't have this tea at work and for dinner is a no-no thing for me because pu-erh tea upsets my sleep.

Well, I usually start my mornings with my favorite wuyi, Shui xian.

For lunch I'll generally have some black tea, my choice of favorites being Jin Jun mei, Lapsang souchong, Ninghong & Yihong

I like having some 10+ years aged Dong ding/Tie guan yin after dinner, or I might go with my Shui Xian.

After supper it varies.. Sometimes I'll have some aged shou mei, or taiwan oolongs like Hong shui & Bai Hao. :)

Pretty much whatever I feel like drinking...usually tea on an empty stomach isn´t a good idea for me so I do most of my tea drinking after meals...but as to which teas that´s totally up to my mood at the moment and what I have in the house.

Never anything really good. Genmaicha is fairly common. But more often I would wait at least 30 minutes or so ...

Depends on what I've eaten, what I've had with my meal, and what I feel like. Generally a Chinese green, sometimes an oolong.

I am still experimenting with different teas so I drink whatever I have. I don't necessarily drink tea after meals. Usually (since I have a lot of it ) I drink yerba mate in the morning and through out until around 3 or so. Then at night I drink my herbals. I am hoping to pick up some Japanese green tea soon which out of all teas I have tried (not many different varieties) are my favorites.
