Wednesday TeaDay 12/15/10 End of year inventory!

by Chip » Dec 15th, '10, 01:36

It is official, Wednesday is TeaDay all day here on TeaChat. So, come and celebrate and share many cups of tea with all your fellow TeaChatters. While you are here, tell us what you are drinking (or drank) throughout the day. Also, don't forget the Daily TeaPoll and discussion topic.

Monday/Tuesday we discussed true tastes and tastebuds. You can still vote and discuss Monday's/Tueday's poll and discussion topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. End of year inventory time. So, how many teas do you have open? How many would you prefer to have open, and why? This is a very good queston. Please answer the poll, but also feel free to comment along with sharing what is in your cup. This is good ummm, TeaChat!!!

I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone, bottoms up.

I'm still in the "try everything" phase of my tea journey so I have too many open at once. I'm working on that.
Let me see...
2 white
2 yellow
4 Chinese green
5 Japanese green
4 light oolong
5 dark oolong
2 Chinese red (black)
1 Darjeeling
2 Sheng pu-er
1 shu pu-er

I currently have two teas open, one fukamushi sencha and one asamushi sencha. I'm trying not to have more than two (green) teas open at a time in order to be able to consume them while they're still fresh.
It sure is hard to follow that rule and restrain yourself when you have two new unopened teas you've never had in the fridge, just waiting to be tasted!

8 to 12 or more! I got tired of counting!

Would rather have 5 to 7.

No Tea yet this morning -- blood work, again!

I'm guessing 13+, but it may be less. I prefer to have less open for freshness sake.

No tea this AM. It is a chilly morning and the coffee at work smelled too good. Tea will come later...

Today I'm drinking a gunpowder green--not sure of the origin, since it's a gift from a friend's stash ...

I tend to buy my tea in smaller 2 oz bags or so, and since I bounce around from tea to tea depending on what my mood is, most of my teas tend to be open at any given time. Tho in my defense, I do my best to keep opened bags airtight--they're folded over multiple times and clipped shut, then put into glass jars with silicone seals in a cupboard away from the light. Truth be told, tea has to be *really* stale before my unsophisticated tastebuds could probably tell anyway ...

Artmom, good luck with your tests!

Pretty lean here, if I do not count samples (around 30), literally less than 5 open. This is a pretty comfortable level for me as too many open teas lead to stress for me especially since they are going to be mostly greens.

I could handle a few more open ... as I am a bit one dimensional presently ... but the ample samples fix that.

Began the TD with Oku Yutaka organic with the Mrs. and Shincha, Wulong. Aromatics of abundant dried fruits filled the pitcher and rose up filling the air, settling into cinnamon raisin bread. Who'd a thunk it ...

My cuppa' MF Marco Polo along w/a sausage biscuit was my treat after my bloodwork. Tasted delicious! :D It was only 17 F when I went to lab; at least it wasn't 9 F as it was yesterday! A bit early for that kind of temps here.

Ta, Chip!

I think I have 9 open, not including samples, but one of them i don't like (roommate and boyfriend do), so more like 8 that i'll drink. Would rather havemore like 5-7 at a time, but given that there are 3 peopke drinking from it, all with slightly different tastes, not too bad.

Fujian again today. Thinking about some snowbud for this afternoon.

Not counting puerh, I am at 12 which is a rather decent number in my opinion... gives a good bit of variety without having to worry about to much going bad.

I would like to possibly get it under 10, but right around 10 seems to be ideal for me.

I would say that I am starting to near around twenty or more teas that are open. I keep trying to drink them all, but opening a new tea every week means that often times I don't manage to drink all of a particular tea all up in that week, which means that I have a lot of teas that are open right now.

I really wish that I had no more than five open right now. That gives me my health teas plus about one or two for me to drink and think about.

I probably have more than 20 non-Puerh teas open at the moment. If you count Puerh, that number will more than double. I'm not sure what the ideal number would be. I like having a bunch open for variety, but there is always the issue of freshness.

Baozhong from TeaMasters today, not sure what is next. :?:
