Hello, I'm new to the site and to tea. Just bought some Irish breakfast tea and assam harmony and a PersonaliTEA kettle.

I was wondering if the tea is supposed to have a strong flavor? when i made some it didnt have much flavor and just tasted bland. I used 3.5 teaspoons with a full pot and let the leaves sit for 5 minutes. maybe i'm not using enough?

thanks, love the site

Welcome Jark.

Both of those teas should be pretty bold. I would suggest using more leaf.

Hi Jark!

Chip is right. Irish Breakfast is pretty darn strong, IMO, so you're probably not using enough. I usually use about 1 tsp per cup of water and add about 1/2 tsp for good measure. (Some people use 1 tsp extra, but it's too strong for me).

Assam is usually strong too. So, try again. Also make sure your water is at boiling point. I can't get my water to 212F but that's because I'm at high altitude. If you live at 3500ft on up, you'll run into the same problem and either have to steep your tea longer or use more to get the right flavor.

Welcome aboard.
