What do you like to eat with your oolong?

Today I have been trying a Chinese oolong. I can't tell you exactly which oolong it is because I can't read Chinese, the old Chinese Thai man I bought it from couldn't speak English, and my Thai isn't the best.

Anyway, I have been nibbling on some cookies while drinking this oolong. This is the first time I have tried to match food to tea. The only reason I have chosen cookies today is because they were left on my desk.

So what do you like to eat with your oolong?

I drink Tea later at night..so it usually goes along with some sort of bad-for-me snack

usually some sort of shortbread or cookie type stuff..or home made sweet rolls or some such

I drink oolong with everything. It goes pretty much anytime of the day with anything.

I like Oolong with food like General Tso's Chicken (don't how it's called in China)..sweet, oily then pair with fragnant Oolong might be nice

Anytime my wife makes roasted chicken, I will be preparing a highly fired oolong to go with it at dinner. Wuyi, Dancong, or something like that. I find the two where made for each other. Wuyi compliments southern cooking very well.

hmmm... the only thing I can think of that I drink tea with is oatmeal in the mornings. I don't like eating anything too strong with tea because I think it takes away from the subtle flavors of the tea.

Unless I'm mistaken, I'm pretty sure that's an American-Chinese dish(as in invented in the US to imitate Chinese(hunan, specifically, I think) cooking. :wink:

Some minor exceptions aside, oolong tends to be my go-to tea for when I'm eating(more or less since I tend to already have a pot going at the time).

I tend to not drink oolong tea with a meal, unless it's served in a Chinese restaurant.

I don't generally drink tea while eating. I don't like to mix tastes and don't want anything to overpower the Wulong I drink.

I'm usually willing to try new things, and i'm willing to do something like this sometime again. I've actually found that gyoza, or japanese dumplings, go well with wuyi oolongs. (sencha goes well too, but that is another topic). I found that the fatty flavors from the beef tend to really help bring out the sweetness and depth of flavor in those teas.

A bit of chocolate can be a nice treat.
Allthough for now I'm on a strict non-suger diet in an attempt to develop a better sense of taste.

Yeah I had some really spicy chorizo casserole the other day and a couple of mins after I had some mid range TGY. Tasted amazing. Really sweet and smooth.
