Yesterday we discussed travels this holiday and TEA of course. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
This holiday weekend's poll and discussion topic. Do you have any holiday traditions, and does tea now fit in? Please share your holiday traditions ... and TEA.

Merry Christmas!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday. I put not really for Christmas traditions because I can't think of any right now except that we exchange gifts. I do go to both my grandparents houses on Christmas day.
My family celabrated Christmas on Thursday because my brother and his wife were here before Christmas. My family had them for Thanksgiving day this year so her family got them for Christmas day, but all I care about is seeing them sometime over the break.

Lots of older traditions that have had to change. A lot of family gatherings, lots of food, seeing relatives rarely seen during the year. Sharing gifts, candle light services, and remembering the reason for the season.
Unfortunately today, families are further away, and while there are still family gatherings, most of my family is fa fa away ... so a new tradtion is making lots of calls.
Also a newer tradition is packing up some tea and wares for the gatherings!
Began this Christmas TD with remnants of Yutaka Midori "Classic" with the Mrs.. Sencha is getting realllllly low. Less than 10 grams of a few selections. Hoping for tea under the tree!

The big tradition that we keep alive is celebrating with the family on Christmas Eve. Other traditions include making Swedish meatballs and St Lucia buns and spritzes, using recipes that my grandmother brought with her to this country. My Dad used to make glog using grain alcohol, but we let that tradition go due to reasons of fire safety.
Emperor's Puzzle Shui Xian perhaps in a little while.
Merry Christmas everyone.
Same here. Finished off a can of DHP from Postcard Teas with my family.brandon wrote:Da Hong Pao.

We go to midnight mass, and my mother makes the same thing for breakfast (every year since 97) simply because we like it so much, its like an egg, sausage, cheese and bread baked dish that is just wonderful.
That and we exchange gifts.

Does eating candy for breakfast count?
We definately have traditions, with my mom, it was always christmas candy for breakfast while opening presents then a huge meal for lunch and the rest of the day just hanging out.
With dad on christmas eve we baked fresh bluberry muffins for santa to leave instead of cookies and left carrots or apples out for rudolph. these traditons are changing as we get older, fewer christmases together, but its nice to remember.
Started out the day with disney "mad tea party blend" tea left by santa. VERY Interesting flavored black tea with apricot, ginger, safflower and calendula, not bad but not great.

No real traditions here. Started the day with Turzum Darjeeling and present opening. No tea/teaware but some nice surprises.
Merry Christmas all!

Other than nearly always managing to spend the night before Christmas baking, no really special traditions here.
Today drinking another really lovely cup of this 2010 Spring Wu Liang Mtn - Xue Dian Mei Lan - Yunnan Green Tea from Norbu. It's a slightly oxidized/oolong-ish mostly green tea, floral, fruity, sweet, delicious. I need to do a formal tasting of this one one of these days, with photos.

Sounds good, Debunix! I have a Puerh from Wuliang Shan that I love, it's very floral. Makes sense that green tea from that region would be good as well!debunix wrote: Today drinking another really lovely cup of this 2010 Spring Wu Liang Mtn - Xue Dian Mei Lan - Yunnan Green Tea from Norbu. No special traditions for me. Spending the day hanging out with the family, eating lots of Christmas cookies.
Merry Christmas!

High Moutain Oolong this evening. I like to look at the leaves with my hands once I'm done brewing so I put it around the cup. Sorry for the size of the picture! It's quite large.
