Happy TeaDay everyone. Please do drop in and share what is in your cup throughout the day.

Yesterday we discussed, "Will you be trying a lot of new teas in 2011? More than 2010?" You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. What tea are you most anxious to try in 2011? How long are you going to wait to "make it so?"

A local shop's Single Estate Wild Arbor Old Tree High Mountain series : April/May to arrive.

The shop has brought in 8 types in 2010 and currently left 2 types which is quite good. Price for the 8 types is from USD26 to USD200 per beeng. High end pu. A lot are sold out upon arrival and some even before arrival (pre book).

They said they cannot guarantee how many types or how much quantity they can bring in cause those grade they look for are limited in quantity and is expensive grade.

Well my oldest daughter really wanted tea today so we busted out one of her favorites...china gunpowder (homestead manor tea) not the best but she likes it so I drink it! Granted she does use a bit O honey and sugar


I am excited to try some Organic Matcha Iri Genmaicha from O-Cha this month, it will be a first of Genmaicha from this vendor.

Its a green called Tai ping hou kui maybe some of you have heard of it

I have been wanting to try this Chinese green for some time now and this coming spring I am going to take the plunge and buy some from teaspring.

I am going to ramp up my oolong purchases again this year. There are several I haven't tried that I'm looking forward to. I am also looking forward to shincha harvest. The earliest purchase will probably happen in February/March.

Now to find that zisha teapot...

It was hard to choose between aged puerh and whites. I am really looking forward to spring when i can try out some white darjeeling and assam. I voted puerh since i expect to be trying that first. Said I planned to try it this month, but that depends on chip . Really looking forward to the next otti.

Finishing the last infusions of otti mansai from yesterday, then im thinking 06 shu.

Never had houji cha before, ordered some right at the end of the year and am enjoying my first cup as I type.

Been really enjoying the teas I've gotten recently from Postcard Teas, it's nice to be able to get quality Chinese, Japanese and other teas from the one vendor and have it delivered in a few days.

Definitely looking forward to what the OTTIs will have to offer!

Some of these will be really incredible such as some of the pu-erh OTTIs. The next OTTI will be 90's sheng pu-erh, and will likely go live in about a week or less hopefully!

Also the gyokuro OTTIs will be off the chart, planning on 3 different gyo OTTIs at this point ... Super Premium, Ultra Premium, and Uber Ultra Premo ... if I can pull this off!!!

Matcha, though I have had a decent amount, I am wondering what the matcha OTTI will bring to the table?

Several oolong OTTI hopefully, maybe a combo Taiwan green/pouchong, etc.

Non mainstream green OTTIs ... greens from different countries.

Darjeeling, maybe one for Keemun, and who knows what else.

And so much more, mostly unknown to even me at this time.

Yeah, 2011 will be a rocking year of tasting a lot of new and sort of new teas, maybe each month! And sharing the experiences with other TCers around the globe.

Maybe there will be more Japanese greens in 2011?

I find them tasty but I feel that the shelf life prohibits me from ordering much more than I intend to drink that month. With Wuyi and Puerh, I maintain quite a stockpile and a broad variety to dip into at will.

On a slightly related note, I recently got a water filter that fits my old 5 gallon water cooler. Now that the cooler is back on, I have a mini teafridge underneath!



This is also good for Matcha and Super Green Tie Guan Yin.

Some folks have been telling me to keep Matcha in the freezer for medium term storage. Is this preferred?

I am anxious to try some yanchas and some more dan congs. I think I will go ahead and order as soon as I finish off my TGYs instead of waiting for the autumn harvest.

I don't think there's much need to get the newest and freshest yancha or dancong, for many being a few years old is a bonus.

I am thinking temomicha too, and perhaps Ippodo's tenka-ichi, and maybe a few Chinese greens...

Tea Gallery's Keemun was breakfast tea today, and a modest little Yame sencha went nicely with lunch.

Matcha in the freezer is as controversial as anything else we discuss here. I do not, TeaFridge is cold enough and never had matcha go bad there ...
