Most likely 80% on new tea, 10% on slightly old tea, and 10% on teaware

Question. Let's say, for the sake of argument, that I buy nothing but Chinese teas in 2011. As a Teachat regular I'll only purchase from websites that post harvest information, so I'll only buy tea from the 2011 harvest. Would I answer this question 100% or 0%

I put my guesstimate at 40%, though it may be less.

Adagio Dragonwell in my cup this morning.

Based on last year, I'd say about 50% of my tea purchases were either shincha, spring oolong, or first flush Darjeeling. Might end up being slightly more this year. Also depends on if you count teawares in the tea budget, which would skew the results significantly!! If we're talking about leaf only, I think around 50-60%

Uji Gyokuro Tsuru-Jirushi is in my cup this morning, as it has been every day this week. I will be sad when its gone, and there is not much left. I've adopted Chip's practice of pre-heating my kyusu, adding my tea, covering, and then inhaling deeply when I open it, enjoying the aroma of the warmed leaf before I add my water to brew. I must say, this gyokuro has the best, most amazing, most enjoyable aroma of any warmed leaf.

If you don't currently enjoy this ritual, I highly recommend it! Wow, its almost as amazing as drinking the tea, and actually seems to make the tea taste even better... as if the savoring of the aroma just wakes up the taste buds.

Happy Tea Day!

Sarah

I voted 60% based on last year's purchase which were shincha and spring oolong.

Just finished enjoying organic matcha from Den's Tea.

I try to buy current year tea whenever possible, and drink more green tea than oolong, and not much puer, so my guesstimate is at least 75%.

I'm not really sure. I guessed 30%. Is shincha still shincha if it is first harvest but bought the following year?

I am looking forward to the 2011 shincha harvest and look forward to spending some dough, but I probably won't buy enough to last more than a month or two. I wish I could strategize my tea year, but I tend to go on a month to month basis.

This morning had my first cup of Sencha Sae Midori. I like it very much. It strikes the back of the throat like an arrow...in a pleasant way.

I guess the 2011 shincha crop will be coming in in the next few months, no?

I want to say a lot. I want to say I'll buy a ton of first harvest (and quite a bit 'o second flush Darj) then mostly abstain throughout the winter months, but chances are I'll buy a lot of new harvest then a lot of tea in the summer, then a lot in the fall, then a lot in the winter. :?

Drinking the last of my second flush Assam today!

40% (more like 35%) for new harvest teas this season. Last year I had many teas in the TeaFridge so I bought low (23%), but I almost should be out when this year's harvest arrives.

Matcha Kasumi and Jing's Seasonal DHP this morning. Perhaps kuradashi gyokuro a little later.

Probably 10% or less, i currently have a glut of tea so dont really need to do any ordering.

Last infusions of the otti yiwu right now, debating which of my new teas to open, there are just so many its hard to decide.

Well if you count Spring Puerh as new harvest, which I guess it is, than maybe 50-60%.

2 teas today. Light Tieguanyin & Wuyi Dahongpao.

I picked 40%, but as I think about it, that's probably not true. It's probably more like 50 or 60%. I was thinking Green, Yellow, and White Tea and not Wulong or Spring Puer.
