I see different sites with different amount of water for a cup. What is a cup? :?

A measuring cup is 8 ounces while an English teacup is 6ish. Most directions that say X amount leaf per cup mean 6 ounces. This is true English style brewing.

Well, thanks you for a FAST response. That might be why my tea is subtle in taste. That and/or I need more tea. I have been averaging 3g for 8 ounces. Think I will try 5grams in 6 ounces tomorrow. I drank some tea a little late last night before going to bed. Yeah! I didn't sleep that well

BTW, Western or English brewing calls for 2-2.3 grams per 6ish ounces.

What tea(s)?

Sounds like you are going the more Asian brewing methdology?

I bought the TeaBasics from TeaSource. This morning, I did 6 ounces of water with 5 grams of the oolong. I got the hints of floral taste they were talking about. The tea itself, was more like a green tea in color after steeping.

Oh yeah, there is a sticker on the package that tells to steep for 3-5 min. I did it for 3 only to get more infusions out of it. By the 3rd one, it tastes like hot water with something passed through it for taste.

Yeah, I believe the Asian standard is 6oz. My rice cooker came with a 6oz. cup.
