Greetings and welcome to a TeaDay weekend. Please be sure to stop in throughout the weekend and share what is in your cup.

I will need some time to think over my top 5 but I can say that oolong will dominate followed closely by green.

I think Im going to try Jingteashops everyday Feng Huang Milan Dancong today.

Your fave 5 list can be general, but I was thinking specific teas.

Diamond Tie Guan Yin from Norbu, Tie with Xiang Hua TGY from Jing Tea Shop
2007 White bud sheng puerh from Norbu
Anji precious rare white tea from Wing Hop Fung
Po Tou Dan Cong Phoenix oolong from Tea Habitat
Sayamakaori shincha from Yuuki-cha

Going to start the day with sencha from Norbu, the Yamakai. Lots of paperwork/catchup for today, so I expect to get through a lot more before I'm done.

And obviously, no dominant type of tea.....

Actually since this is a weekend topic ... you can post some and then post some later.

Fave 5 general types of tea ... for instance, Japanese greens ... or simply greens. So general or very general

Fave 5 specific selections

Fave 5 from each general type or as applicable

This actually requires me to do the somewhat hard task of picking out my top 5 favorite teas.

So I would say my top 5 categories are:

High Roast TGY
Wuyi Yancha
Japanese Greens
Korean Greens
Balhyocha

But then "dominated is another question" as there a re 2 oolongs, 2 greens, and 1 "other" which could have cases made for it to be thrown in with oolong, yellow, or black. So I voted based on the categories in the top 5 for which I consume the most tea from in grams. That would be greens.

I'll bet everyone can figure out my fave Teas are dominated by black!!! :D

Top five in no particular order:

2nd Flush 2010 Hattialli Golden Lion Assam
Mariage Freres Marco Polo Black
Rose Congou Emperor Tea
Black Dragon Pearls
Imperial Red

Had Black Dragon Pearls this a.m., blended w/just a tiny pinch of Rose Congou; a fave blend in the mornings. Fully Rose Congou is better, to me, in the afternoon. :D

My top five in no particular order:
  • Japanese Sencha and Gypkuro, primarily from Uji and Yame
Chinese greens, specifically: Suzhou BiloChun, Red Circle's Shi Feng LJ
yancha: med roast shui xian and lt roast shui jin gui are current faves
    dancong: 'nuff said
silver needles: Chinese yin zhen and Sri Lankan Adam's Peak
Again this year I consumed slightly more Japanese greens that Chinese Oolong, but Japanese greens and yancha comprise 90% of my consumption.

Tea Gallery's Keemun again for breakfast today.

As I am new, I only have one favorite right now. Himalayan Darjeleen (or something), green tea, is to my best likes.

Spices in tea are OK, but they are a bit too overwhelming sometimes. I also like the jasmin pearl tea, but it is not my favorite.

Only tried about 6 teas now. 2 to 4 bowls a day ;)

Hmmmm thinking about current favs I´d say maybe...

Kiku Mukashi matcha
DHP from Chinese Tea Culture
Yame Gyokuro from O-Cha
Dayi 8582-802
Chiran Sencha from O-cha

makes 3 greens, 1 oolong and 1 puerh...so greens win xD

have been drinking the 8582 today :)

oh and I´ll add to the expanded topic :)

general favs

Japanese Greens in general...matcha, sencha, gyo, kuki, houjicha ect...
Oolongs...with a strong preference for them to be roasted.
Darjeelings...2nd flush especially
Puerh...preference for young sheng and dry stored aged sheng
Hong Cha...Dian Hong, Keemun, Lapsang Souching and others :)

It's really tough choosing 5 favorites because I drink such a large variety and it all depends on my mood at that moment. If Chip put a gun to my head I'd have to say.

1 Alishan Gaoshan Wulong
2 Yixing Hong Cha
3 Aged Shengpu
4 Tie Luohan Yan Wulong
5 Aged Roasted Tie Guanyin

I think matcha has to fit in there somewhere, but I'm not sure where.

Currently drinking the last of my Shincha from my Mukuhara Kashun Kairagi Yunomi. In case anyone is wondering I have not been drinking shincha ever since last spring, but misplaced this bag and found it only a month ago. and only recently opened it up.
