Greetings TeaWorld and welcome to TeaDay. We hope you will stop in and share what is in your cup!
This past weekend we discussed fave 5's. You can still vote and discuss the weekend's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Maxwell House, good to the last drop ... sort of. When you pour your tea, do you insist on pouring, shaking, whatever it takes to get the last drop from your pot? Please share.
I am as always looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

More so to make sure the leaves arent left sitting in any water than trying to squeeze every drop to drink

I imagine the last drop has the best taste - particularly with gyokuro I shake a lot to get out the last drop.

IMO the best oils and concentrated extracts of the leaf lay/lie in those last few drops. i'll often just prop up my kyusu or yixing to make sure all the stuff is outta there. hooray.

Yeah I do a quite a bit of shaking... Though, I usually do the most shaking with Japanese greens. They by far seem to soak up the most water.

I generally just wait until the drips are few and far between. I have seen too many teapots get chipped by over-zealous shaking.

That's the primary reason I'm so fond of the anti-drip rubber tips on my kyusus, it saved me from a chipped spout after a too vigorous shake yesterday...IPT wrote:I generally just wait until the drips are few and far between. I have seen too many teapots get chipped by over-zealous shaking.
Today's morning sencha is o-cha's Organic Asamushi 7132. I finally managed to get the delicious cinnamon bun notes that others have mentioned!

I always remove those. I don't like the look. Of course the first time I chip one I'll wish I hadn't.Nenugal wrote:That's the primary reason I'm so fond of the anti-drip rubber tips on my kyusus, it saved me from a chipped spout after a too vigorous shake yesterday...IPT wrote:I generally just wait until the drips are few and far between. "Absolutely, I shake, etc in order to get the very last drop out. "
I have done this to the point of the person having tea with me saying "Are you kidding me?" on more than one occasion
Admittedly, that's kind of the reaction I was going for because I realize it can look ridiculous even if you aren't intentionally doing it for a minute

I try my best, but when I come back for another steep there always seems to be a small puddle of missed tea at the bottom of the pot.
I don't think I've got the patience to rid the teapot of every last drop.

Heh, I have done this, tiny chip on the very tip of the spout, more than once. A learning curve thing. When it happens, it makes a sickening clunk and you know, but it is too late. Have not done it for years .... probably should not have said that.IPT wrote:I generally just wait until the drips are few and far between. So now I do all shaking well above whatever I am pouring into!!!!!

I left 2 molded silicone ones on 2 rather inexpensive kyusu figuring I might be less attentive with these kyusu. Since they are molded, they do not look bad at all. But not on any others that came with just a cut piece of flexible tubing that was likely more for protection during shipping.IPT wrote:I always remove those. I don't like the look. With kyusu-s, I have this little rolling motion that I should video. It works really well and eliminates most of the shaking.Stentor wrote:"Absolutely, I shake, etc in order to get the very last drop out. "

And began the TD with Kumpu asamushi from Ippodo with the Mrs. served up in "SnowDrifts" Hagi-Yaki Yunomi by Eiichi. Pretty balanced brew, but a bit thin.
