Wednesday TeaDay 2/2/11 "TeaChat Phyl" sees his shadow?

by Chip » Feb 2nd, '11, 00:41

Happy Groundhog Day!

And Happy Chinese New Year's Eve!

Hopefully everyone is safe and sound despite the latest massive blizzard.
:!:

Please stop in to TeaDay and share what is in your cup throughout this day.

Yesterday we discussed a rather timely subject, would we prefer warm weather year round. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. It is a little known fact, if "TeaChat Phyl" comes out of the TeaCave atop Mt. Fuji and sees his shadow, he declares an early arrival to New Harvests all over the world! Will he see his shadow today?

Whether he does or not will be announced this evening!

I am sure we are all looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up!

Weather forecast is sunny for the morning on Mt Fuji. If he comes out before the hordes of eager teaChatters arrive and shade him completely from the sun, he should see his shadow!

And tonight, an ending of sorts: finished off the last bits of two different Dan Congs from Tea Habitat. Bye to Ba Xian and Wu Ye, nice last brewings in spite of the abundant dusty bits I should have screened out.

Happy groundhog day & happy new Chinese rabbit year!
"Come out come out, Phyl, and look at the pretty shadow!"

Today's teamorning started in the office with matcha and a grandpa-style glass of long jing.

The matcha was already drunk at the time of the picture, but I include the pretty new (ippuku-sized) chawan from SamSee33 at Etsy anyway. It looks so foresty that I named it "Kodama".

Happy New Year!

Hoping the year of the Rabbit will be a good one.

I will drag teachat phyl out of the teacave if I have too, hold up a large flashlight so that he can see his shadow  . Im so tired of winter. We need a nice and early tea harvest.

I'm having some delicious Jiu Hua fo cha this morning before going off to school in the ice this morning

auhckw,

In the movie Groundhog's Day, Puxatawnee Phyl (spelling?) was the groundhog's name.

I think this winter's been pretty rough for almost everyone, everywhere, so I'm hoping both Teachat Phyl and Punxsutawney Phil both see their shadows. I'm ready for Spring.

I enjoyed some of the High Mountain oolong today, with a friend.

No shadows here right now, though you could see them earlier. what you cant see? the ground. They say we wont get above freezing until friday and probably wont see significant melting until saturday. I dont really care about ground hogs, i just want warmer weather. Atleast i dont have to work again until saturday so not leaving the house is an option. I dont know whats going on but this is the second winter in a row we have gotten 6+ inches of snow. If this keeps up i may have to move further south  .

Starting the day with taiwan ruby tea, i have a feeling its going to be a heavy tea week.

Here in the USA, for the last 100+ years, we have this silly holiday called Groundhog Day on February 2nd. http://www.groundhog.org/ Puxatawney Phil is brought out to see if Spring is near or more distant 6 weeks away. If he sees his shadow then we are in for 6 more weeks of Winter.

So, TeaChat Phyl is a spin off, but we want him to see his shadow as this indicates that the Spring harvests are going to be early and will be good harvests! And of course he resides in the TeaCave atop Mt Fuji where he is fed used gyokuro leaves!

This is about as believable as the premise of Groundhog Day and is in the imagination of a cohabitant of the TeaCave.

Thanks Nenugal and Karmaplace for coloring our TeaChat Phyl TeaDay!

I can not say what TeaChat Phyl will do, only he knows ... but I hope he sees his shadow, a precursor of an early and bountiful harvest! Besides, I am ready for TeaSpring to arrive!

Began the TD with Kiwami from Zencha with the Mrs. ... am getting close to the sweet spot on this one.
