Happy TeaDay everyone. It is happy because we again will have tea today. While you are at it, please stop in and share what is in your cup throughout the day.
Over the weekend we discussed how fave teas became our fave teas. You can still vote and discuss the weekends topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. See the weekend topic. Then do you think that it is possible under different circumstances, you could have had a different fave type of tea? Please share.
We are all looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with ... everyone. Bottoms up.

Re: Monday Teaday 2/7/11 Circumstantial favorite?
I think it's likely that under different circumstances I could have had a different favorite than white teas. Both oolong and many varieties of green tea come to mind. And some blacks, I guess... and so on...
Having some sencha today, for the first time in months. Mmmmm.

I have so many teas that I love and am still discovering more, so it depends on my mood, the day, time of day, etc.

Re: Monday Teaday 2/7/11 Circumstantial favorite?
I am almost certain that I could possibly have another favorite tea had I not started out with and immediately liked sencha.
I mean, ever since, I have been exploring the world of Japanese tea with only a very few exceptions of the occasional Chinese or Indian tea. There is just so much to try and unless you're sharing a lot of your teas it's going to take a long time to explore just one category of tea to a satisfying degree.
What I am trying to say is that for me personally, my favorite tea is not necessarily my favorite tea out of all the teas in the world (since I haven't tried them all) but rather my favorite tea out of all the teas that I've had... so far.
So, there is a possibility that I could enjoy another type of tea more in the future but I don't think it would ever lead me to give up sencha.
I hope to broaden my horizon as far as other types of tea are concerned with some of the upcoming OTTIs here on TeaChat. It's hard to sample quality tea on your own when you don't want to risk being stuck with several 100 g bags of something you are possibly not going to finish. Not to mention the cost it involves. That's why my progress in exploring other types of tea has been slow.

Re: Monday Teaday 2/7/11 Circumstantial favorite?
Trying to imagine a circumstance where I might have liked black tea best, and can't do it. The bitterness of a traditional CTC tea is one of the few tastes I just can't get past. But depending on circumstances of mood and quality of brewing, my favorites already change day to day, hour to hour, so yes!
Starting with Tai Ping Hou Kui today, and then on to a big thermos of something in a deep roasty oolong for the day.

Possibly. If I never tryed yancha then I would imagine that it wouldn't be my favorite tea but if at some point between then and now I had tried it, then I'm sure it would still be my favorite.

I have tasted many teas (difficult to figure out precisely how many but more than 500 for sure not counting small samples) and Japanese greens are still my favorite teas.

I'm sure I'd have a different favorite if I never tried the teas that are my favorites now.

I am sure to find new favorites as I taste teas brewed by others.

It looks possible, and I have gyokuro to fill in the gaps, if needed.Stentor wrote:Haha, looks like you're making a seamless transition to Shincha 2011
