Greetings everyone and welcome to a new Teaday, hopefully filled with lots of great tea! Please drop in throughout the day, and share what is in your cup!
Yesterday we discussed the posssibility of having new personal fave teas. Please respond if you have not already.
Due to a tough day yesterday, I am declaring a Free-Day TeaDay. So, you choose the topics we discuss, and almost anything goes! Remember to also share what tea you are drinking.
We are all looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Auhckw, maybe because this is TeaChat and not CoffeeChat?? However, Chip did have a spot you could check; Other.
Of course, I checked Black. I'd hate to give anyone a heart attack by checking something else.
Golden Lion assam this morning. Have been up since around 2 a.m., so I plan to return to bed in a few minutes.

Mostly sipping white today, specifically White Peony. It's good, as usual.

Black today, I still haven't got the facilities in work to drink any other kind unfortunately.

Black today.
I got some Black Dragon Pearls from Adagio that I've been enjoying.

I was going to check oolong, 'cause that's what I'm drinking now, but then I remembered that I drank two or three pots of sencha this morning and made myself a matcha latte for the road. So, green wins today.

Re: Tuesday TeaDay 2/8/11 FreeDay
Green only TeaDay for me, as are most of my TeaDays.
Thoroughly enjoyed the last of my Takumi from Zencha this morning. I'm sad that I don't have any more of it but I have a bag of Yutaka Midori LE from O-Cha waiting to be opened which I am really looking forward to.
Actually, I might give that one another try right now.

The organic one? I have recently openend the organic kabusecha from O-Cha and haven't been enjoying it so much. So far, I got the best results with 70° C, 1 minute, 1 g per oz. Maybe you can help me out a little.Nenugal wrote:I go green today, starting with kabusecha from o-cha.

Started with a black blend (need one to wake up) and continuing with TGY for the rest of the day. I forgot how nice it was to focus on one tea for a day, ought to do it more often!
Cheers

No it's the other one from o-cha, but I also had difficulties getting the good taste out of this one. When I tried treating it like normal sencha, I got something not very tasteful or special, but it seems that I got better results with a slightly more gyokuro-like approach with lots of leaf and perhaps only a bit lower temperature than for sencha. Sorry I can't give more exact data, I don't have a thermometer or scale.Stentor wrote:The organic one? I have recently openend the organic kabusecha from O-Cha and haven't been enjoying it so much. Is kabusecha generally considered difficult to get right? So far I've been lucky once out of 3 tries, my hit rate is usually better than that with both sencha and gyokuro...
I have to add that when I got it right, it was actually really good.

I agree, more leaf should help. I think I went 1.25:1 for organic Kabuse.Nenugal wrote:No it's the other one from o-cha, but I also had difficulties getting the good taste out of this one. Re: Tuesday TeaDay 2/8/11 FreeDay
Equal amounts of White Peony and Ruby Black tea from Norbu so far today. Probably a green for my afternoon tea. So no one type winning out today.
Re: Tuesday TeaDay 2/8/11 FreeDay
Oolong and green so far today.
Started with Ban Tian Yao, currently enjoying some Kirameki.
(Shuppin sencha arrived today, but I don't plan to open that until March or April.)
