Hi from Texas

by Annabelle » Feb 24th, '11, 14:41

Hello fellow tea lovers! I'm glad to have found Tea Chat :).

How long have you been drinking tea?
I hardly ever had tea as a child, hot or iced. My mother didn't care for it, and she did the shopping, so ours was a strictly Diet Coke household!

As an adult, I tried the usual round of American grocery store teas -- Bigelow, Celestial Seasonings, and so on. Never cared much for them; I'd usually brew a cup or two, then forget about the box of tea, then throw the box out 2 years later when I ran across it.

I only started drinking hot tea regularly after an experience in a local coffee shop about a year ago. They offered various Mighty Leaf and Harney & Sons options for the non-coffee lovers (I never have liked coffee much).

I fell in love with Harney & Sons hot cinnamon spice tea, started ordering it through Amazon, then discovered other tea makers / tea vendors / tea varieties . . .

. . . and currently drink at least 2 pots of hot tea a day. Some days, the only beverage I consume is hot tea.

What was your first Tea?

I'm sure as a child I consumed Lipton iced tea at some point, though the memory doesn't stand out. I just know it's nearly impossible to grow up in the American South and not drink Lipton somewhere, sometime.

The first tea I picked out on my own was probably the "Constant Comment" stuff you can buy in grocery stores.

What is your favorite Tea currently?

I have a real soft-spot for Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice, though I also adore their Tropical Green and their Organic Green with Citrus and Gingko. I love flavored teas.

What is your next purchase?

I currently have another order coming from the aforementioned H & S . . . stocking up on more Tropical Green, and also trying their Green hot cinnamon spice (so far I've only had the black tea version). I haven't yet ordered from Adagio, but plan to soon if I can ever make up my mind about what to try.

Where is your favorite spot to brew up?

Work. I keep an electric hot water pot in my office, and pretty much drink tea all day.

Though at home I also brew a pot of tea every morning to have with breakfast, and I usually brew a pot of tea in the evenings, too, after dinner (white tea or something decaf).
