I'm still just in the process of figuring out which teas I truly like, so I haven't really been thinking too much about the new harvest. :? But I will at least wait until after all my samples and dregs are gone before I put in for some good stuff.

I had a few more infusions of wuyi ensemble a few hours ago. I may try out a ceylon or a well-roasted oolong soon, depending upon how I feel after doing some class preparation.

I still have some spring 2010 teas actually. I trust deoxidizer, nitroflush or vacuum airtight teabags. I won't be buying very expensive greens or super high quality gao shan cha or baozhong, but anything else is ok.

I buy the same no matter what, as long as the quality is very high. I am looking forward to the new harvests though :D

I voted 0-19 because I will be quiet for a different reason, when the Anxi spring harvest opens - I shall be buying

But my stock is so high, I shall probably be quiet for a few months other than the Spring arrivals.

In my cup this morning

continuing my DC in different vessels trials, today a Chou Zhou pot

:D equal first with my cheap Yixing, no probably top :) slightly more astringent, slightly less comforting warm flavours but additional dimensions in savoury and mineral notes :D

Not much, I said 20%. Might try to get some new harvest this year, but I tend to just order when I'm running low.

Another few hours and I can have hot beverages again! They said wait 24 hours after surgery, but I'll probably still let it cool a little more than usual, at least for today. Definitely thinking oolong for my first tea in two days..

100% for sure for two reasons...... one is that shincha is offing.....and the other is that I'll be back in Japan this spring (solo show and for the first time also a bit of a "touristy vacation") and will be stocking up on shincha and other teas while there. I'll be in Kyoto part of the time and hope to get to Uji area.

best,

............john

Thank you Herb_Master for coloring our TeaDay

Clearly 100% for me, as I have already begun to keep orders very lean in hopes of shincha arrival just as I run out of sencha. I usually err on buying too little since once new harvest teas arrive, the old ones will be problematic as I will focus on new harvest pretty exclusively.

Obviously this is more of a green tea issue, but also for some greener oolong this is more critical.

Began the TD with the very last bits of organic 7132 from O-Cha blended with Hosen from Ippodo, shared with the Mrs. This came out quite nicely actually! But alas, no more 7132, again!

I voted 60%, but really it's more like 58%.

90's Pindong (Taiwain) is the order of the day.

I absolutely order less Japanese green's prior to spring. I run myself completely out of Sencha so im soo very ready for Shincha when the time comes

100%, since I have more than enough stock to keep me until new harvests are available.

Currently enjoying some Long Mei Yunnan green; Baozhong earlier in the day.

too late, I´ve blown most of my tea budget already and I wont be buying much at new harvest time....most likely just a little bit of sencha.

teaday today started out nice with Shizuoka 7132 from Umami Chaya but I only had time for one infusion and when I got home it was tasting flat and sour

But I´m making up for it now with a nice bowl of Kiki Mukashi matcha!

I will probably try not to make a smallish order of sencha to tide me over until shincha, but the chances of my successfully practicing restraint more generally are low, especially if prices drop on well-packaged prior harvest oolongs....

Today, started with Honyama sencha, which is nearly gone. Then on to the 2008 YiWu bamboo-aged puerh from Norbu, whose tolerance for abuse I discussed in Pu of the Day. It is the latest of many cups drunk from this yunomi by Ginkgo, probably my most used because I drink most of my tea from it at work. It is now showing very strongly lined crackles on the interior, but still only slight changes in the exterior glaze

Wowza, that is some serious crackling Debunix. Thanks for coloring our TeaDay!

Only one other tea today, Nada's 90's Bulang from Pu-OTTI ... still steeping this tonight ... and will continue it tomorrow.
