I just bought the lovely rutile glaze gaiwan (w/o cups). I have been looking for a special gaiwan for a while and I fell in love with this one. Beautiful work!

both very very similar, yet unique



from some angles they look and feel triangular



one perhaps slightly more than the other, but at other times they appear less so

My initial feeling was that I thought they would have been a little smaller, and would have preferred them to be so

but it is not a problem if I only half to two thirds fill them, and they are delightful in the hand and on the lip.



Interesting that we get to see unglazed clay in the exterior circles.
I wonder if this means I must not wash with a detergent?





I have enjoyed using them today



but I am old and my eyesight is fading

No reason to fear washing them Sir. The clay is vitrified and has very little absorption. I'm not sure what the fear of that is, but it will neither damage them, nor influence the taste of the tea you put inside of them.

That is simply my signature on the bottom of the pieces Herb.

This is beautiful, but a fingers or lips burner indeed Love the color! Perhaps a thinner or flair rim? You are heading a great direction! Congrats

Thanks a lot Tim. I think you are right, this would require careful use. This feedback is really important to me, so thanks again I'm preparing to break out the porcelain for next months wood-firing, so the more I learn on here the better my work will evolve, I hope
