Another tea noob

Hi everyone! Trey here, a noob convert. A lot of knowledgeable tea aficionados on this board

I'm pretty new to the (surprisingly) rich world of tea, as I recently switched from coffee to green tea as my workday pick-me-up. Turns out I didn't really need that much caffeine

I've also tried white tea, but so far it seems a bit tame. Maybe I will have changed my mind by the time I finish the bag I bought.

I look forward to learn more about tea on this board, maybe even make the transition to white tea exclusively. For the time being, the flavor/price ratio speaks for green tea.

Welcome aboard! White tea is "pretty tame" when comparing the caffeine to other teas. In fact, green tea is pretty mild too, so you really didn't need that coffee! :idea:

Welcome Trey, Since white tea is so fluffy, you need to use a pretty hefty amount. Often a tablespoon or 2.

Two tablespoons? It's going to be an expensive habit

I tend to nurse some hot beverage throughout the day, which is why green and white tea seem to suit me better than coffee. It averages out to around six cups daily. I may have to go for a slightly lower quality than Silver Tip, then, if I decide to switch completely to white tea.

Keep in mind, tea is generally sold by weight, not volume. So, 100 grams of fluffy white tea has much more volume than probably any other tea. That said, white tea is not the cheapest tea on the market. Bai Mu Tan (spelled many ways) is relatively inexpensive.
