Re: HAGI SSO 16 Eiichi ROCK! by Shibuya Eiichi
Just out of curiosity--were there any rocks that were the *least* popular/not picked? I find it interesting to see what people's preferences are ...
Re: HAGI SSO 16 Eiichi ROCK! by Shibuya Eiichi
I got my first choice w/ #8... apparently nobody else first-picked it.
Does that mean I have unique tastes?
I got my shipping notice as well. Unfortunately the timing couldn't be worse. But oh well, しかたがない!Terribly looking forward to using it!

Maybe these crackles stem from the "waterproofing" Eiichi performs on his works?Chip wrote:Glad to hear the ROCKs have been thrown "Westward" by Mago!
Looking at this ROCK, it has two kinds of crackles. The verrry obvious ones you see in my photo. These are like nothing I have ever seen in any pottery, I will try to get closer photos, because the photo does not illustrate this very well.
Then there are the more typical Hagi crackling. These are virtually everywhere and mostly visible with the naked eye. Actually looks like it has had tea already. I expect if others have these, they will really progress!
Sounds and looks (!) really cool either way.
I'm really looking forward to receiving mine.
Thanks for sharing the early pic of yours, Chip. A great choice indeed!

All were picked, but obviously not all had first picks. There was the cluster of #s that had a lot of interest ... then there were the others who had 1 first pick.hopeofdawn wrote:Just out of curiosity--were there any rocks that were the *least* popular/not picked? But they are all quite amazing, donCha think!
Exactly what I was saying. Thank goodness everyone does not have the same tastes, there would be ROCK fights breakin' out on TC.Drax wrote: Does that mean I have unique tastes?
But them they would all have have this unusual crackling? I thought maybe position or location in the kiln?Stentor wrote:Maybe these crackles stem from the "waterproofing" Eiichi performs on his works?

I don't have details, I just remember there was a discussion about this in the "SnowDrifts" thread.woozl wrote:Waterproofing??

I am not aware that these have any waterproofing, though they can do this. It is possible these are especially due to the bare clay. I would have to check.
Yes, there was discussion about the waterproofing with the SnowDrifts, which is odd, if that were the case, I would not expect to see the crackling ... especially on the exterior ... unless Ian's hands are really dirty.
I have never requested any waterproofing however.

Yes, lots! You can't tell well from that photo, but all the glaze is already crackled. Noticeably different from Chip's crackles though.Drax wrote:Beautiful, KP!
