I've been learning that I simply am not a big fan of black tea. The only ones I can drink straight and enjoy are Darjeelings and teas of the English/Irish Breakfast varieties.

Sencha in my ROCK today!

:D I'm beginning to sound like a broken record, but 2nd Flush 2010 Hattialli Golden Lion an Assam that I bought from Lochan Tea. I have found I prefer 2nd flush to 1st flush teas usually.

It is a bit seasonal for me, but I'm still finding out how much. My favorite black from Nepal has a definite warming qi, which makes it unappealing in the summer.

Unfortunately, black teas can give me some stomach problems. So, I have to be a bit careful with them. My all time fave is Keemun.

But around this time of year, thoughts move to Darjeeling and similar regions including Sikkim, Nepal. I really like the Darjeelings, 1st and second flushes ... but I know not too invest too much time nor resources into them.

Began the TD with a Long Jing from a generous TCer, shared with the Mrs.

Then 2 boxes from Japan arrived ...

I only drink black tea or hongcha when it's used to make milk tea. Otherwise, it just doesn't do anything for me.

You wouldn't want to be generous with a poor noob, would you?

I have the same problem with some black teas. Some, however, are good for an upset stomach, even for me.

The only black teas I've tried and enjoyed were flavored with chocolate, from Harney and Sons. The tea itself was a chinese black, so much milder than the black tea they use for their chai.

Today began as a celebration of Japanese greens - first a genmaicha with matcha, and then Den's Gyokuro Suimei. I followed up with a puerh sample sent to me by a fellow TCer. I think I've been spoiled in favor of aged sheng.

Chinese Yunnan is my favorite black. I start most mornings with some variation of this tea. I seem to be unusual in that it is green teas that can upset my stomach, I cannot have greens in the early morning.

I do have to admit that I have not tried all of the choices in the list today though!

Started today with 2009 Spring Imperial Dian Hong Yunnan from Norbu teas.

I mostly avoid black tea, except occasional cups of Yunnan gold, and I recently discovered a lovely Taiwanese black tea from Norbu called Black Ruby that is also pretty tasty. As to which is my favorite, well, that's a tossup from day to day.

Today has been a very green-ish TeaDay. Despite gray skies, it's been a bit warm and muggy feeling, so bright floral and fresh green tea flavors seemed just right--Fall TGY from JingTeaShop, the end of a sample of an interesting oolong-ish green tea from Yunnan, 2010 Spring Wu Liang Mtn - Xue Dian Mei Lan from Norbu, and now finishing with some Dragon Well from Wing Hop Fung. And soon I'll be looking for a caffeine free end of the day, probably something starting with Hibiscus.

For black teas my favourties are from Yunnan province. Today though I had sencha this morning and a 2010 first flush darjeeling which was still very good.

So, sencha arrived, opened up a bag of Yutala Midori! It was nice to have sencha again.

Finished the TD with sheng, day 5?
