Which matcha to choose?

I have 5 options on my list.

4.) Domatcha Master's Choice from domatcha ->> http://shop.domatcha.com/products/matcha-masters-choice

From your own experience, who is the best money can buy, from these 5 different kinds of matcha? And how many teas can you make from a 30-40 grams matcha can?

I actually have tasted 1, 2 and 3.
I would go for Ippodo but if you really want the best, Manten matcha http://www.o-cha.com/green-tea/koicha-matcha-manten.html from O-cha would be my choice.

If you drink your matcha as usacha you need 2g per bowl, if you drink it as koicha, 4g per bowl.

super premium is a long time favorite matcha of mine. Never tried the pinnacle but Ive always wanted to.

I would recomend first ordering some usucha too, and an entry level koicha, if you are a beginner, if you are advanced I would choose Ippodo, or o-cha`s Manten, or Horaidos Myiako no Mukashi.
But if you want the best Japan has to offer, the matcha`s that are made for the Urasenke or Omotesenke, and the matcha`s that are competing and wining the All Japan tea competition for years in a row, there is only Marukyu-koyamaen brothers from Uji, they sell the widest range of matcha.

I'm sure they have great teas. However, they are only winning competitions against other firms that enter contests, which most of the more famous companies do not bother to do.

This is my first-ever matcha and I like it a lot! It's bright green, and easy to froth up even for a novice at making matcha. Above you see my fifth time making it.

I have a $50 amazon gift card and I'm thinking of getting some matcha with it in about a month when I will very likely run out of "Hibiki-an Matcha Super Premium" ...

Are there any comprable quality matcha on Amazon.com? (here are the options: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_ ... rds=matcha )

I get the feeling domatcha might feel like a big step down. What do you think?

Looks like a lot of the domatcha is second harvest ... why bother when you can get much better for around the same price??? Plus buying through amazon ... might be good for books ... but NOT perishable items where freshness is uber critical such as Matcha!!!

I would stick with vendors such as Zencha, Ippodo, O-Cha, Maiko.

There are other good ones as well.

I see that most of DoMatcha's offerings are from Kagoshima, which is reason enough to avoid them. Their "Master's Choice" appears to be made by Koyama-en which is a respected company, but I think you are going to pay a lot for it being American market.

The ippodo. For contrast, I would add the Nodaka, much different texture. It is a much better tea than its price would suggest.
