This number will definitely be going up soon, but I know I've had at least over twenty (and likely closer to twenty-five) different kinds of tea so far this year. It's helped that I bought a bunch of samples and went on trips to a local tea shop where I tried different things on the menu. This is definitely shaping up to be my best Tea Year to-date. :D

I'm currently using up the last fragments of my okuyutaka sencha (luckily I have some greens en route). It's become my favorite tea to start the day with.

I've brewed 32 different teas this year.

The high point was Red Circle's Shi Feng which I tasted on New Year's Day and which may be my Tea of the Year.

Other high points were:
* The Mandarin's 3 Stamp Shui Xian
* Tea Habitat's 2009 Lao Cong Zhi Lan Xiang dancong
* The Mandarin 2008 Phoenix Mtn Shui Xian dancong
* Postcard Tea's ``Eastern Beauty'' Lan Hua Xiang Dan Cong
* Maiko Yamashita's gyokuro Nomigoro
* Maiko Yamashita's gyokuro Yamashita-Jirushi
* Maiko's Maccha Kotobuki
* Zencha's Matcha Kasumi
* Jing's gift-grade Keemun

My family has been around quite a lot this year and I always bring out my best when they are here.

I had about 40, maybe a little less. I had tons of sencha, matcha, assam, keemun, etc. After getting to those in about 2 months it's a smaller selection of japanese greens, oolongs, and pu-erh.

Starting my day with pu-erh

I would say about 15 with my usual ones: Ujibashi san no ma and Kaboku for sencha, Tsuru Jiru Si, Kame Jiru Shi and Ippoen for gyokuro, Wakamatsu no mukashi matcha, Golden needles, Himalaya Gold...
And only one new tea: Jukro (Korean black)

Uji Bashi san no ma sencha right now.

TeaDay is as close as I've gotten to a tea journal, and a quick search of the TeaDay forum suggests I've drunk over 50 different teas so far this year: but I doubt I'll get to as many as 100 by the end of the year.

Started this teaDay with Anji white tea in my new ROCK Hagi (photos still in the camera), worked on some of yesterday's Da Hong Pao leaves for some more infusions midday, tried a few infusions of one of my young sheng puerh beengs and realized I wasn't in the mood, and now on to some more Autumn TGY from Jingteashop.

Grandfather and Grandson! Sweet! :mrgreen:

TD began with ... Yutaka Midori from Umami-Chaya with the Mrs. followed by Aoi from O-Cha. Good tea on a tough day.

So, I have not really said anything about this, but my father has been ailing for some time, and has been in and out of the hospital 7 times in the last 5-6 months. It has been a difficult period to say the least. It has also been a drain, so if I have seemed or seem a bit "off " at times, my apologies.

My father went into the hospital for the 8th time today. So, I am a bit late to TeaDay again.

And Friday's topic will continue into Saturday!

I can barely think what I had today let alone the last 3+ months. :mrgreen: Hopefully by tomorrow I will have a clearer TeaMind. And hopefully more members will as well!!! :mrgreen:

Heh, hopefully I was not too much of a downer in my last post. :mrgreen: See, I can still smile ... though sometimes I may feel more like :cry:

Began the TD with Aoi from the O-C with the Mrs. I might like this more than the more costly Kirameki. This is more veggie which I like.

Comtemplating the TeaPoll and topic ... hmm ...

Sorry to hear about your Dad Chip, hope things will get better.

Karma - that is a wonderful pairing of tea ware!

I will say about 15 teas for me this year. The highlights would be a few different oolongs from Norbu, both green and roasted, that I have enjoyed a lot.

Started today with some ripe Pu Erh, a bit off the normal path for me today, 2005 Yun Xian Large Leaf. The first couple times I tried it was not sure of this tea, but this morning it hit the spot. Rich in taste, and a beautiful dark red color.

Later today I plan on some Asa sencha in the ROCK!

Chip, I hope your Dad is as comfortable as he can be and that you can find some peaceful moments.

I had more Beidou No 1 with breakfast, will probably have sencha maruyama with lunch.

So sorry to learn about your Dad's health problems - it makes for a difficult time and I second Briarson's comment - "I hope your Dad is as comfortable as he can be and that you can find some peaceful moments."

I was inspired by this question to review my tea log and found that I've had 36 different teas through this morning. Highlights - great Chinese greens from Seven Cups and Jing Tea Shop, and a wealth of puerh samples from OTTIs, gifts and my own orders.
